I have a water leak from the hose of the kitchen faucet. I requested a plumbing repair on Home Advisor on 12/12/2016. Master Construction was recommended for the job along with two other pros. Mike from Master Construction was the only one contacted me for the project. He told me that he had to look at the problem first before he can give me a quote. So he came the next day. We bought a new kitchen faucet for the repair. He told us that the kitchen faucet was fine and no need to replace. He just tighten the hose on the hand-held and told us that there should be no problem there. As he was checking under the sink, he told us that the drain was rusted with a hole and we should consider to change the kitchen drain. Since he spent the time to come out for the Kitchen faucet and turnout to be ‘NO problem’, we felt we need to pay him something and he told us that the drain has a hole already. He quoted labor of $175 + part and taxes. So we agreed to proceed with the drain. Mike left for the store to get the parts. He got two different drains and used one to replace our Kitchen sink. I saw the receipt for the two drains were around $27. He proceeded to replace the kitchen drain and required my husband to help me all the way from the top of the sink while he was working underneath the sink. As he pulled out the old drain from the sink, I cannot see any rust or hole as indicated by Mike. The drain may look old and dirty but definitely no rust or hole. At that point I felt I was being fooled by his professional opinion. Mike asked for a total of $218 at the end of the job and we paid him as agreed. However, I still don’t quite understand how the $218 was calculated. The part and taxes come to $43.00 seemed not right. Then the next day, my daughter called and the water leak from the hose (the original problem we requested for repair) was still dripping as before. So we call Mike and he came out again. He then replaced the kitchen faucet as we requested yesterday that he told us it was not the problem. He asked my husband to pay him another $100 for the job. I was not there to argue with him about this extra charge. I am not sure a kitchen faucet leak would cost me $318.00. I questioned the judgement of the pro on the kitchen drain as there were no rust or hole. The whole repair process did not sit well with us. I trusted Home Advisor provide honest pros to help us. This is definitely not a good experience for us. I would like to know what recourse do we have to deal with this Master Construction to get this “”Óvercharge’’ resolved.

Response from Company:

I am sorry for her She's not honest and I have shown her and her husband leaking from the drain pipe. I'm a businessman for thirty-five years I never do this job.

Mike showed up on time, replaced a main valve and two outdoor faucets, one of which presented several challenges. He had to search for parts to replace this 50+ year old plumbing. Left the work area clean. Very professional.

We had a few contractors take a look at things that need to be repaired at our house and decided to go with General Construction because Mike gave us a reasonable estimate and he really knew what he was doing. We were really happy with the outcome of his work and would have him again. He even fixed some minor things in the house for us without charging extra. Thanks Mike!!!
