Write a ReviewDelivery of the drywall was very disappointing. The stairway to the basement is a little tight and posed some challenges. But the delivery guys marked-up the ceiling and scratched the walls while taking the drywall panels downstairs. Worm's team removed the marks from the ceiling and patched the walls. But now we need to repaint the walls to cover the marks and repair patches. The installation of the drywall and ceiling well very well. The installers were very professional and did a great job.Â
Tom (owner of Worm Drywall) returned my call to request an estimated promptly. He arrived and gave me a written estimated and we agreed that he had the job. He called me the next day with a date for the job. This was no easy job. My ceilings have beams and a very high peak in the middle. He repaired the damaged part of the ceiling, and painted the entire ceiling, that is the living room and kitchen. There was a lot of prep work with all those beams, and we also have an open stairwell that he had to work with. He also did our hall ceiling. I couldn't be happier with his work! The ceiling looks like new! He even patched some parts of the lower wall in my hallway that I didn't even mention to him, and wasn't in his bid. His final bill was lower than quoted - I have never had that happen before! I would give Tom's name and number to ANYONE who needed drywall work done - I don't think you find find anyone better!
Completed the job on time and kept me updated along the way.
The walls in our new Sun Room are 12 feet at the peak, with lots of windows. The drywall installation looked difficult, but they accomplished it in a timely manner and very well done.
I had new recessed lightning put in about 12 new cans - 6 in each room. Â Our electrician left about 10 cut outs and I had cracks in the ceilings. Â Tom and crew came in and gave me a very fare price for their excellent craftsmanship. Â Their work is very very good and professional. Â They arrived right on time, and completed the job earlier than anticipated. They were very professional and courteous through the whole job. Â They came in and out through our garage. Â Our door to the kitchen from the garage was always hard to close. Â We always had to push a little hard to get it to close and I would even use my shoulder to lock it. Â When Tom and his crew completed their work I was not home but when I came home through our garage I slammed the door like I do usually. Â I got a real SURPRISE my hard to close door had been FIXED!!!! Â Tom and his crew were so nice they fixed my door and left with a smile. I still slam the door but I am trying to tell my family Tom Worm and crew fixed our door. Â If you need someone of his profession you can't go wrong in hiring his firm. Â I would use them again even if they didn't fix my door. LOLÂ I want to thank Tom and crew for going the extra mile without being asked. Â I will use them anytime i have needs for their services. Worm Drywall came out to give a quote on a drywall taping/mud/texture job, which by itself was nice because some drywallers don't want to do jobs that involve homeowner hung drywall as it is never as pretty or good so it makes their job harder to tape it. However, Tom came out exactly when we said he would, to the minute, which was very nice! He was very professional, dressed nicely, and proceeded to measure the walls for the quote. He was nice to talk with, answering questions about who would actually be doing the work and when they could do it and everything else. He also promised he could get the job done by a deadline just a couple weeks away. He also complimented the drywall hanging job my brother and I had done, and I really appreciated that. That was compared to another quote we had where the guy essentially made fun of the job we had done (more screws than the pros would have done I guess?). The quote we received was also the lowest one, so we gladly accepted Worm Drywall?s quote. He asked for no payment until the job was done which was also reassuring.  On the 1st day the work was to begin, Tom was at the house early (nice!) to drop off the equipment and go over the job with his employee who would be doing the actual work. That employee showed up shortly thereafter, and he was quickly off doing the work. The work took little time and the subsequent visit the a couple days later for the final coat and texturing went smoothly as well. It looked awesome! Now comes the interesting part! Everything had gone smoothly and the job was done, Worm Drywall was paid, and days later we were painting the room. After painting the ceiling on a Friday night, we discovered to our horror that it seemed the drywall tape had detached from some seams and was bubbling out. Just a horrible horrible feeling after finally getting our long delayed remodeling to a state where it didn?t seem totally like a construction zone anymore. So, the next morning (Saturday), I called Tom up to tell him that the tape had detached from some seams. He was surprised and very understanding and promised to come out right away (again, on a Saturday morning when he was at home with his family 30 miles away). He came out, took a look at it, and attempted to fix it with a syringe filled with an adhesive that he said sometimes worked to push the tape back up to the drywall. Unfortunately, a few minutes later it was clear that it didn?t work. So, the next painful to watch step was him cutting into our what was a day ago beautiful ceiling with a utility knife. What he then discovered is that it wasn?t the tape detaching from the seams at all, but the actual drywall paper detaching from the rock! Defective sheetrock! Where it had happened was actually about 2 inches away from the seam in the part of the sheet that slopes inward slightly where you end up taping. But it wasn?t the tape as that was clear when he showed us the sample he cut out?the tape was still tight to the paper but just a few inches away the paper was detached from the rock, evidently the result of defective sheetrock coupled with the moisture and weight of fresh paint. He seemed familiar with the problem, citing that it was an issue with some brands of sheetrock from time to time. So, even though this was no longer his responsibility as it was a couple sheets of bad sheetrock and he didn?t provide that or hang that, he still stepped up to make it right for free! That morning still, he cut out the few other spots that it had happened, applied some mud to the area to fill it out, and promised that he and his employee would be out on Monday or Tuesday to retexture it. That morning then, Tom showed up, got the area sanded and prepped, and his employee came and retextured those areas, doing an excellent job of blending the new textured area into the rest of the ?old? textured area. They cleaned up and left and we were once again left with a nice looking ceiling. Nearly a year later, the ceiling still looks great! I would not hesitate to call Worm Drywall for any future sheetrock needs, and I doubt I would even get a quote from anyone else.
Tom's was responsive and bid quickly and clearly. Â The drywall was delivered on time and placed where it was least obstructive. Â The rockers showed up on time, dealt with the small but frequent oddities of the structure, and cleaned up their mess. Â The tapers arrived on schedule and did a wonderful job of all the corners, angles, stairs, and weird spaces. Â They also blew a knockdown ceiling everywhere. Â The sander showed on time, cleaned all the walls and vacuumed up the dust on the floors and in the corners. Â Tom came by frequently to assess the quality of the job and ascertain my concerns...and then address them!
He was great. He was personable and prompt. He did the work. I was happy he took the time to view it because I think the ceiling job was a complicated job.
Outstanding workmanship. Very careful to ensure drywall dust was contained. 2000+ sq ft, in and out in 2.5 days. A bit expensive but you get what you pay for.
Tom's crew was very accommodating and on time. He finished our lower level in a record time.
