I went online to Angi's list to seek someone who could paint wrought iron outdoor furniture. The website gave me 3 options to contractors near my location. Within 15 minutes, Javien Cannillo with The Contractors called saying he was in the area and could come by and give us a quote. I agreed. When he arrived, we showed him the job pieces (17), and he quoted 1200.00 which sounded reasonable, and he explained how he would sand each piece and then spray them. He told us absolutely that he had all the equipment he would need including tarps and drop cloths so spray and dust wouldn't go in every direction. And not to worry at all. He sold himself on the fact he knew just what to do. His quote was 1200.00 and only good for if we signed on that date. We somewhat agreed but he wanted 800.00 down deposit and my husband and I said NO. We told him we would put 100.00 down so, he agreed to accept that amount for a deposit. I wrote him a check for 100.00. The work was to begin on Monday June 16th at 6:00am. He said he would arrive at 6:00am. My husband arranged the furniture so they could get started right away. He did not arrive at 6:00am on Monday morning and my husband called him at 6:32am and he said he was on his way. We patiently waited but when he arrived at 7:00am he had no tarps only a hand sander and one worker but no other materials like the PAINT and equipment to do the job. My husband asked him why no tarps and he said he needed to go to the Home Depot (3miles away) to buy all of the supplies. But...he wanted us to give him 200.00 cash to buy the supplies. My husband explained we don't do cash and confronted him about the fact he already said on Friday, the day of the quote, that he had enough money to get all of his supplies. My husband asked him about the 100.00 deposit? what did he do with that money.? He went on to make excuse's saying he had someone in the hospital and my husband told him, don't give me that now your here to do this job and he replied, " haven't you ever had anyone in the hospital" !! My husband told him don't you give me that crap and then he backed down and said he would go get the supplies...so we waited until 7:48 am and he hadn't come back yet so we discussed it and decided not to continue the job with him so, my husband called him on his cell at Home Depot and asked him if he had made the purchase and he said he was trying to get money into his account and then get in line to pay. My husband told him to step out of the line and that the job was cancelled and to come and pick up his worker and the sander and leave. My husband told him to keep the 100.00 and at least pay the guy he brought with him to work. He could not be trusted at this point, because of his many excuses and his unprofessional manner along with his incompetent behavior towards the job. We worried how if we let him proceed, how would the rest of the day go. We lost!!! and experienced an expensive lesson. When I called your customer service office, I explained this situation and the fear of retaliation if we gave a bad review, we told him we wouldn't give him any review. That was all he was concerned about from us. Now this is what we want you to understand. We assumed your contractors were vetted properly, licensed and insurance bonded, that's why we choose to go with Angi's list so we wouldn't have this kind of problem. I think it's important for you to know this contractor is representing you as a viable good contractor because he is on your site. It is our absolute opinion that he is NOT. He isn't reputable or responsible enough to return the 100.00 deposit with an apology that he did everything wrong. He received 100.00 deposit but did not perform any work. We want that documented for the record. We will not put out any review to the public regarding him, we just want you to know. Thank you for letting us have an av...

Javier gave me an attractive quote for a pool deck repaint job and was able to start working the day I initiated the request amongst several contractors in the area. He is a fair and honest contractor who has been doing home renovation work for over 30 years. Highly recommend.

I hired Javier Carrillo to paint my newly-renovated kitchen and I was very glad I found him on Angi's. Javier has a very professional and friendly demeanor. He provided advice on the color scheme for my kitchen, listening closely to what I wanted. Javier was meticulous with his painting, worked quickly, and efficiently. I would be most happy to hire him again for any of my painting needs!
