How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because the hearth industry is very specialized field which I can offer my customers all my years of experience that no one else can. Also I love what I do, as it shows from my customers finished jobs everytime. I have been in the masonry and fireplace industry since 1983 doing installation, service, sales, along with being a National Service & Technical Training manager for a national fireplace company for 12 years. With this experience, my customers do appreciate my detailed and accurate work, giving them the satisfaction of knowing with over 34 years experience, they have a finished job they can be very proud of..

Clean and Inspect a Chimney or Fireplace

This was a "long-disrtance" project. We currently live 500 miles from the wood stove Mr. Cruse was asked to inspect and clean for insurance purposes. He is a great communicator: calling to set up the inspection, coordinate getting into the property, following up with a call as he was writing an inspection report, discussing options for needed repairs or replacement. He is prompt, courteous, service oriented, professional. I highly recommend him.

Install or Completely Replace Brick or Stone Siding

When we decided to side the house we thought adding stone would be a nice finishing touch, after picking the stone we contacted Darin at Stone Works for the installation, Darin took us to a home he was working on so we could see the process and tell a good job from a bad one. Stone Works worked with the siding people and got the job done in less time then we thought. People were stopping and commenting on the house before it was done. Look at some cookie cutter homes with stone, then look at a Stone Works job. "You can tell the quality from the curb." They did an amazing job.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
