Jeff did an excellent job for us. He had to install mitigation equipment for both our house and our garage. The cost was extremely reasonable and we would highly recommend him.

Simple, fast and professional

I do not recommend using Radon Specialists out of Vinton, VA at all. I am still waiting for a job that began September 16, 2023 to be completed. This is a two man company that says they are so busy running all around the state of Virginia, even Colorado to do jobs, yet canâ t come down the road 1 hour from Vinton to complete a job as promised. They knew where I lived when they accepted the job! Our system was finally installed October 28, 2023. They promised to give a radon test with an official reading after installation. They did place their monitor in our basement, however, when it was picked up we never received or saw an official reading. It wasnâ t until I mentioned that we had borrowed a battery monitor ourselves and it still said levels were fluctuating between 4-8 most days. He said in text he would send a picture of their monitor reading, but never did. We then found a leak in the caulk may have been the culprit to high levels, I was still understanding at this point, so said my husband could possibly just fix that. However, Jeff then proceeded to suggest all of these other crazy ideas for us to do to try to get the levels down (like â just plug the hole with a rockâ and â stuff shopping bags in a holeâ ) so I asked if he could just come back and fix the leak and show us exactly what else needed to be done so we could do it correctly. He refused to come back down, and said â I just donâ t want to drive that far for a 5 minute job, if yaâ ll could just do it.â However, my husband and I just sucked it up and tried to do what he suggested and we even put drylok paint on our basement walls to also help (which was not suggested by Jeff and should have been). On November 27, seven days after his suggestions I contacted him to come back down and do another test as promised. Since then, he has given me every excuse in the book to NOT come to our house and do what he promised. All we needed was another test with an official reading that I could actually see and a wire they installed that needed to be fixed so it would be up to code. Now in January he was supposed to finally come do these two things and yet another excuse and no show. Seems to be me, a company that is so busy (or lazy) would have more than 2 employees so itâ s hard for me to believe their schedule is so packed. So beware, Radon Specialists only know how to install a system (even that was shotty) but if you have an older house and the system does not do the job and get your levels down below 4â ¦they do not know what to do and will not come back to fix it. I have wasted 4 months now dealing with this man who has been really rude and not understanding at all and just took my money and ran!

Jeff was prompt in contacting me, and he let me know as soon as the needed part arrived, and installed it the next day. He answered my questions, and was knowledgeable, and I would hire him again, and recommend him to others.
