Larry Emerson, owner of Prepper Construction in Castle Rock, has failed miserably at my house. Not only that, but he refuses to take responsibility for the botched job. A simple drywall repair (25 x 17) in the ceiling above the tub has turned into a 53-day-long fiasco. The repair is still an unfinished mess. There are chips in the texturing because it blistered/bubbled overnight, and one can still see the poorly taped seam - all four sides of the replacement drywall square - through the texture. Larry did not do the work himself, but instead hired an inept, uncaring handyman (Carlos) who left the bathroom dirty, and never returned to finish, even though he promised me that Larry himself would complete the job that Monday morning. Carlos instead asked a friend (Neil) to finish the job as a favor. Neil worked one day, assumed he finished the job to satisfaction, but the work collapsed overnight to become the unfinished mess it still is today. Both men took money (I am a nice guy, but a dupe) and never returned. Larry never once presented himself to me in order to follow up and make it right. Customer Service is not part of Preppers ethos. Emerson is ultimately responsible for the project, both to me and to Home Advisor. Four weeks ago Emerson pretended to care, and in a text, offered me my $100 back and an additional $100 for my trouble - an apparent temporary flash of integrity. The check has never arrived in the mail (surprise!) and Larry Emerson has disappeared . He won t answer my calls, my voicemails, nor my text messages. All three men have bailed: a very regrettable, negative experience. Now I must find an honest and competent service pro to fix the repair. Ironic! My biggest mistake was paying even a single cent before the job was done, and to my liking. When the project goes south, so does Emerson. It is the worst and slimiest contractor experience I have ever had. I would NOT recommend Mr Emerson and Prepper Construction for any project of any kind.
