After several failed attempts by other contractors who had completed other work for me satisfactorily, I called Brian at Alside to tackle this persistent leak next to my chimney. He was punctual, cordial, and comprehensive in his approach, answering all my questions patiently. At one point he made a pitch for an extravagant add-on (rebuild the entire chimney for three times the cost of this repair), but let go of the idea when I declined. He is, after all, in business, and I can accept that. The price for repair was higher than I expected, but fair enough considering materials and a crew of two for the better part of a day. The work is warrantied. It is too soon to tell how successful the repair will be (it might take months or a few severe storms to be sure), but I have confidence in his work. Overall, for a job that really matters, go with a pro wherever possible.
