Modern Habitat

We added a great room, entryway, deck and second floor room to a ranch. Kip has a great design sensibility and we worked together without an architect to come up with a plan. We've been extraordinarily happy with the result; we love the house. The older section works seamlessly with the newer section. Kip pays attention to details. After the work was done, Modern Habitat has been responsive to whatever issues that arose. We are truly appreciative!

I could not be happier with the work done by Modern Habitat, and I gladly offer my strongest positive recommendation. Our project was a very substantial project (an addition which more than doubled the size of the house). Three things about Modern Habitat stand out: 1. They were willing to work within our budget constraints. Several contractors said the project could not be done for the budget. Modern Habitat made it work. They managed the subcontractors aggressively and were willing to put in the work to shop around for best pricing on materials. 2. They were incredibly responsive. I was a bit of a high-maintenance customer, wanting things very particular in keeping with an older home. Throughout the project, Kip and his team could not have been more responsive and accessible. They returned calls, emails, and texts basically 24 hours a day and worked with me as a real partner on lots of little details. 3. The quality of the work was spectacular Kip and his team have a keen eye for design and detail, and they managed the subs to ensure the highest quality work. In the rare instance when something was not up to their standards, they had the subs redo it until we were satisfied. Finally, it is worth noting that while doing this major renovation/addition, we lived in our house for all but two months of the work. I truly appreciated Modern Habitats willingness to work with us to minimize the amount of time we were out of the house and to make the process of working while we were living there clean and free of major disruptions. I am happy to recommend them, and would (and likely will) use them again.

I am delighted to write an especially glowing review for Modern Habitat. I contacted Modern Habitat to do renovations on a mid-century modern house. The renovations included major repairs, including rebuilding walls, repairing wooden ceiling, flooring, painting, and some electric work. Their work exceeded my expectations in terms of the overall outcome, pricing, process and the quality of the collaboration. Modern Habitat is a team of high end professionals that know what their doing and doing it exceptionally well. While doing renovations on my house, they paid a lot of attention to detail, stayed in touch and consulted regarding all major decisions regarding the renovations. They responsibly handled deadlines - I needed to move in by a certain date and they made it happen! I also enjoyed their thoughtful advise and nice manners that made the process as stress-free as it was possible. Their knowledge of the style is superb and I am grateful for numerous suggestions they made regarding the renovations far beyond what I could ever expected. I already recommended Modern Habitat to my close friends and will not hesitate to call them again.

Modern Habitat is excellent. They are creative, reliable and responsive to your requests and needs. They did superb work remodeling my third floor addition. They followed through on everything they promised and were always conscious of costs. They were also reliable about both the details of the project and promises about deadlines. After waiting nearly a year for a contractor to start our job we finally gave up and scrambled to find someone else. We needed our family room completely gutted and rebuilt before Thanksgiving. We met with 3 different companies and settled on Modern Habitat after meeting with Kip Schultz and Bob Dillon for quite some time. They were professional, listened to our needs and concerns, made helpful suggestions and came back with a very reasonable estimate. They showed up daily, kept in constant contact with us both verbally and by email, and consulted us for any changes every step of the way. The room was not completely done by Thanksgiving, which we had expected given the tight timeline, but it was fully functional and we did enjoy the space with family on the holiday. Even after we added a few items and modified others they finished the job less than 2 weeks later. We could not be more pleased with the final result. Our family room went from the original 1970 eyesore with holes and water stains in the popcorn ceiling, peeling wallpaper, atrocious stairs and hideous faux beams to a modern, stylish and comfortable lounge space that we are proud to relax in with guests. We will definitely contact Kip for future renovations and would not hesitate to recommend Modern Habitat to anyone looking for honest, hard-working and reliable general contracting services.
