Upgrade an Electrical Panel

Ben and Brian came to our house and completed an electrical panel swap out from a 100amp service to a 200 amp service. Their professionalism and quick work saved us time, money, and future power capacity issues. They are experienced and knowledgeable all the way around. Thank you for the excellent work!

Remodel a Basement

I hired Ben and Brian to build a sizable addition to my house(extend kitchen, laundry powder room, add bedroom, bathroom, mud room). I encountered multitude of issues while working with them. Note: they have very good attorney that is Brian&#39;s relative. Here are some of the facts: 1. Project completion took 11 months instead of promised 5. 2. Improper framing modification caused walls on the second floor to shift. Door openings became distorted and cracks in the corners appeared 3. Water is leaking between the walls and newly installed gutters. 4. Newly installed hardwood floors (3/4 sick Brazilian Cherry) are squeaking and moving in many spots. One piece is completely loose (no nails at all). 5. They refused to install shower doors despite drawing clearly showing them. I have a $3000 estimate of the to fix put walls per drawing and hang the doors. 6. A/C ducts were sized improperly.

Hello Yuri J., all of your complaints have been addressed in 2 court trials. The court after reviewing all evidence did not give validity to any of your issues. We have never tried so hard to make someone happy and met such resistance and unwillingness to let us do our job. All of our work was inspected and approved by the Town of Brighton as well as Electrical Inspector, both of which complemented how well the job was done. The framing was done as per the blueprint you provided. Any other issues could have been resolved if you had actually paid us for the work. Bullying is never the way.

We perform this screening when a business applies to join our network and, if the business is accepted, whenever concerns are brought to our attention. We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
