Prior to moving back to the DC area after 14 years in Dallas, my husband and I had a flood at our Dallas house, which led to chaos in packing for our move to DC. Once in DC, I felt overwhelmed. My son in Chicago searched for the best organizer in the DMV, and found Maryam at Edit and style. He gifted us a consult and one session. Our highest priority was our kitchen, dining, and storage areas. After our initial session, we asked Maryam back for 3 more sessions to complete the work. She did an amazing job putting items in logical grouping and places. For items that could go in containers, she did so and labeled the containers. My husband was ecstatic that he could find the plugs for our numerous devices and I felt 100% more calm and settled than I have felt in 2 years. When we get to organizing our garage, I will be contacting Maryam at Edit in Style again.

I am professor of photography. I recently had to go to the hospital and needed someone to declutter my home so I could easily get around it with a walker if necessary. The "clutter"they chose to throw out included all my clothes and shoes, heirlooms from my grandparents, kitchen appliances that still worked, and a camera and tripod that I needed for my work. Every day they tried to upsell me with more "services". I have spent thousands replacing articles of daily living like cleaning supplies and utensils, cat food in cans, vitamins and medical supplies, most of which were put away in cabinets. They did not clear it with me before doing this although I was only a few miles away down Shady Grove Road. Never let this company work alone in your home without supervision!

Working with Maryam was such a joy! She has such a calm and calming demeanor, as well as great ideas and taste. Her thoughtfulness and professionalism cannot be understated. From our initial consultation, I knew I would enjoy working with her and the final organization looks...she did my primary bedroom, office/guestroom closet, linen and front closets. Each time we finished a session, both my space and I felt lighter and more relaxed. In addition, what makes her truly unique, as can many times be a legitimate factor and was for me, the unruly condition of my home was related to some major stress struggles that we all face in this often incredibly busy life, and it can manifest for some in how they allow Disorder to enter their living space. As it gets worse, turning it around can seem a million miles away. Maryam has a background in Behavioral Therapy and while she never pushed this, as we became more familiar during my personal process, she offered her advice freely - person to person, but only when asked for. I never felt pushed or invaded. She ended up being integral to the physical beautiful transformation of my home both in how it lives so easily. It was done in a way that has been easy to maintain, and throughout she treated me in such a gracious caring way as a person; more than just an average client. As we moved this, and threw away that, she helped me deal with many of the root causes behind how my mindset and approach to life had gotten me to this point in the first place. That was NOT something I could ever have hoped to be so fortunate to encounter from a peofessional home organizer. But lucky me indeed. What makes Maryam (Edit in Style)so special and so perfect for anyone with an experience like mine, is that - when applicable and welcomed - she is willing to go beyond merely establishing an easy, organized, sharp looking home that is a joy to navigate (which she does with great skill). She went way above and beyond to assist me to eliminate that feeling of being overwhelmed or just having so much "stuff" it seemed impossible to turn it around. She is an A+ Pro at getting organized, but she also has helped me as a human being turn my life around during the challenging process of letting go of clutter and old clothes and so much more to reveal the simple beauty of my home and unburden the stress of feeling unable to dig myself out of the disorderly surroundings stressing me out every day I lived surrounded by it. She is both a consumate professional in her Organization services (tireless and inventive and thoughtful in straightening and decluttering) she is also a good person. She is the perfect choice for someone who just wants more workable closet space but also for someone with a more serious deeper seemingly hopeless mess. For anyone who feels they just can't dig out, Maryam brings a special background, skillset and personality, and I truly cannot imagine a better choice for a small area that just needs to flow better, some help working through parting with all of the old extra 'stuff' you know you should move on from but can't seem to get yourself to do it, or for someone like me who had all but given up. Now I not only have a neat, tidy home I am proud of, the way she guided setting it up is SO easy to maintain, and I am proudly inviting people over again to show my 'new' place off and love my home more than when I even bought it in the first place. She won't try to push any advice or delve into your issues unless you invite that type of process, but she is truly unique in that she knows how to deal with the emotional side of parting with items and opening...
