How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because Hello, I’m Kyle, the founder of Chicagoland Forestry Co.. My journey as an arborist began with a lifelong love for nature and the outdoors, which led me to pursue a career that combines my passion with hands-on expertise in tree care. My path to arboriculture began when I moved to the Big Island of Hawaii in 2012. Immersed in one of the most environmentally precious regions in the world, I initially worked in agroforestry through the WWOOF program, focusing on tropical crops such as coffee, avocados, and noni. I spent years managing invasive species and working to protect the island’s endemic trees. During this time, I was first introduced to arboriculture while watching a climbing arborist in action, and I immediately knew that this was the path for me. After transitioning from agroforestry, I spent five years working as a climbing arborist in Hawaii, where I specialized in pruning and removing residential trees, including the notorious coconut palms (which, surprisingly, are actually grasses!). My time with Bartlett Tree Experts further honed my skills, as I attended climbing clinics, passed various tests and training, and even joined emergency response teams during an ice storm in Austin, Texas. In 2022, I moved to Chicago and began working in urban arboriculture. This new chapter expanded my expertise in tree healthcare, understanding seasonal changes in tree growth, and managing the unique demands that urban and suburban environments place on trees. I believe that every tree is unique, and my approach to arboriculture is rooted in observation, curiosity, and humility. I take the time to carefully assess the health of each tree, looking for clues in its leaves, bark, roots, and surrounding soil. I rely on my past experiences, as well as resources like the Morton Arboretum, to ensure I’m providing the best possible care. My hands-on learning style allows me to approach every tree with a thoughtful, informed mindset..

The experience with Chicagoland Forestry, LLC was excellent! Led by Kyle, the owner/leader: project was managed and completed impeccably! Kyle was phenomenal with all his follow up prior to, during, and after completion of the project. He did the work himself: totally prepared, ultimate professional, and my wife and I are extremely pleased with the outcome! exceptionally fair price and outstandingly well done from performance execution standpoint! For example, Kyle was out to observe one day. We had quote that same night and the work was done the next day. You cannot beat that efficiency! Thank you Kyle and keep up the great work!l Sir!

Kyle came in and assessed the property quickly, provided me with a fair and reasonable estimate, and finished the work in one day. (Front of the house and one side removal of trees and shrubs.) I had asked for a professional job. That?s exactly what I got.

Treat, Protect and Maintain Trees & Shrubs

My brother recommended Chicagoland Forestry to me. They did great work. I had two large trees removed and their stumps grinded away. They removed the trees with proficiency and safely then came back the next day and took care of their stumps. The job was finished in no time and they cleaned up nicely. Would recommend them to anyone.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
