How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because in this industry, we can bring help to the local community. CW Service Pros started in 2000 doing residential plumbing. Over the years, CW evolved to helping homeowners with their plumbing repairs. Today, CW Service Pros has joined with Elliott AC and Heating to add HVAC services. Darrell Elliott began as a parts puller and then learned the industry as an installer. He brings with him a strong background in commercial building maintenance, with over 8 years of experience. In 2005 Darrell begin Elliott AC, Heating and Handyman Services. Today, Darrell has joined forces with the CW Service Pros team to provide heating and cooling repair and installation to the North Dallas area..

Upgrade an Electrical Panel

Change the Electric metro base to outside from a closet. Ground the house, added smoke detectors, added exfan/heater to bathroom. and dedicated outlets in two rooms. They came to the house and wrote me a price and that what I paid when they finish working on the house.

This was to move an electrical outlet for a wall-mounted TV. Pros responded quickly and provided upfront pricing. I was disappointed that an extra hole was cut into my wall to complete the job but understand they are not always able to tell what kind of structure is behind the wall.

Justin Klump called right after we submitted our request thru Home Advisor. He was able to give me a price and a time frame of when they could do the work over the phone. Justin and his crew showed up on time and completed the job in the expected time frame. They cleaned up their mess and were very friendly and knowledgable. We highly reccomend them and will be using them again.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
