After purchasing our home, we initially reached out to Kitchen Tune-Up to discuss a kitchen renovation, but ultimately decided to renovate our master bathroom first. The experience exceeded our expectations—and here’s why. We received seven quotes, ranging from small local contractors to the biggest names in the area. What immediately set Bath Tune-Up apart was their white-glove evaluation and quoting process. They provided a detailed, high-quality visual mockup as part of the quote—something no other company offered without charging extra and/or requiring a signed contract. Design Process Both of us work in tech and aren’t especially design-oriented, so we appreciated how structured and approachable the process was. They had us start by selecting the cabinetry, which then anchored the rest of the design decisions. Side note for fellow renovation newcomers: We initially assumed we’d hand over a few inspiration photos and receive multiple fully designed bathroom options to choose from. That’s not how this process works—and now we understand why. Creating multiple complete designs with real materials, accurate pricing, and contingencies for what’s uncovered during demolition would be incredibly time-consuming and expensive. You’d likely need a dedicated interior designer for that. Instead, we visited the tile store, shared photos of what we liked, and then worked directly with Cristina to finalize selections. Seeing everything together—in the actual room, with its natural light and cabinetry—made a huge difference. Once the floor tile, wall tile, and shower floor tile were selected, we were ready to schedule. BTU provided a proposed timeline, and because of several trips we had planned, I reworked the schedule and sent it back. They accommodated our requests without issue. Another practical note: If you’re aiming for finishes with nuanced tones (especially gold), I highly recommend sourcing hardware yourself. Even within the same brand, “gold” can vary widely. To get a close match across our lighting, cabinet hardware, chandelier, and tub filler, I ordered about 15 variations to compare in person. Ivan and Cristina were very transparent about how difficult this is to get right—and they were absolutely correct. Construction The construction phase was smooth and efficient. We had the same crew every day, they were professional, respectful of our schedule, and cleaned up daily. The project moved quickly—we actually finished about a week early. They installed extensive dust protection to separate the master bedroom, which helped significantly. That said, construction dust is inevitable, so it’s best to set expectations accordingly. We stayed in the guest room upstairs, and while the house needed a deep clean afterward, that’s standard. (Post-construction cleaning services exist—I chose to tackle it myself.) Final Walkthrough At the end, we did a detailed walkthrough. Any items we flagged—whether alignment, leveling, or finishing touches—were addressed promptly and to our satisfaction. Bottom line: Bath Tune-Up delivered a thoughtful design process, excellent communication, a reliable schedule, and high-quality craftsmanship. We felt supported at every stage, and the end result reflects that care. We will work with them again for the rest of our bathrooms and kitchen!
