Reviews
Write a ReviewWe needed a sprinkler backflow valve quick as we were going out of town. They responded quickly and got the job done.
When I Called Troy he came right out and diagnosed the problem with my sprinkler system! I had other sprinkler techs come, but they did not seem to know what Avant Garde Landscaping knew about my sprinkler system. I would recommend Troy to all of my neighbors, he is very professional and friendly!
Ryan and all of his employees were absolutely lovely. They communicated well, made sure we were happy and up to date with every step in the process, and were extremely professional. I would absolutely hire them again. They made sure we got exactly what we wanted with our backyard and were always very upfront with us about pricing, which was refreshing, and stayed within our budget.
These people responded in a quick and professional manner. They completed all required work in a timely manner, answered all questions in a clear and understandable way and even did some unexpected extra work at their own expense. Yes, I would readily recommend them to others.
We've had so many problems with our valves and sprinkler heads over the years. I called Avant Garde, and Ryan and he was able to come out the next day and fix multiple issues. He was very helpful and pleasant to work with. I'm grateful that I finally found someone who knows what they're doing, and does what they say they will do. After checking around with other companies, I also found them very reasonably priced. I will absolutely recommend them to my friends, and will call them again if I need additional work to be done.
I never receive a written estimate for services. When we received the bill it had no start or finish time on it! Part of his justification was it took him 2 hours but there was no start or finish time written on the receipt. The informal estimate on the phone he told us it will be between $150 - $350 depending on the job. It was only one $2 part that had a crack in the sprinkler system ( an elbo or 90 ) and we were charge at the top of the estimate. He charged $335! If he would have given us a written estimate before hand and let us know. Okay I have identified the problem. Here are the parts I need, and here is how long it will take. Here is the price point your looking at. I would have paid the $98 charge to come out and look at it and sent him on his way. He stated on the phone "that's what you should have done." I however was not give the opportunity to say no thank you! He just did the work and handed over a bill for the top end of the verbal estimate. I was not there when the work was done so my wife paid him. When I got home I called him and asked him what justifies this $335 price point and he had no answer for me. He said something like well the glue has to dry for 30 mins before he could see if it is fixed. So while he waited for the glue to dry he was handing my wife a bill for time he thought it would take before he left. So he is charging me while he was waiting for the glue to dry? Okay well that doesn't make sense! That's outrageous and so was the bill! So, I was paying him to hand me a bill and tell me wife what he did...ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! I also asked him well what does a $150 job look like if only 1 elbo is cracked and need to be replaced. He never did answer that one! He just danced around the question saying...IN MY 27 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE....AND DEFLECTED FROM ANSWERING. I have filed a complaint with the BBB I will keep you posted. I offered to pay him $200 to settle, but even that is more than I think the job was worth!!!
Avant Garde Landscaping received a phone call from Mrs Gurr and she asked how much it would be for us to fix a broken sprinkler pipe and we answered with the price range of $150-$350.00. Mrs Gurr said ok and that she would call us back, I received a voice mail that said that her husband was not going to coordinate his schedule to meet up with us and that we were to just come out [to her house] when we could make it. This is the wording from the voicemail Mrs Gurr left on my phone, I still have it. I called Mrs Gurr and told her that we would be out to fix her sprinkler system later in the day. We arrived at the house and Mrs Gurr was in the shower, but her son took me to where the broken PVC pipe was. I proceeded to repair the broken sprinkler pipes and fittings as per my conversation with Mrs Gurr on the phone before hand (remember, she called me back after giving her a price quote over the phone to come and repair the sprinkler system in the price range of $150-$350. The actions of Mrs Gurr calling me back creates a verbal contract to perform the work within the specified price range). There was significant freeze damage to the sprinkler system problem area. We made the repairs that were needed. I know that Mr Gurr explains it like it was an easy fix, but if I used one part as he states in his testimonial, then that explains why his attempt to repair it prior to my coming failed. There was much more to the repair than one part, it is good to have a professional who knows what they are doing. After completing the repair we did a sprinkler analysis on the sprinkler system as per Mrs Gurr?s request. We found a ½? drip system pipe that was not even connected and was flowing freely 6-8 gallons per minute. We repaired the leaking drip system that was not in the initial scope of work, but who could leave a untapped ½? drip system flowing at 6- 8 gallons per minute? That is a lot of water to be flowing freely. The Gurr?s were lucky that we fixed the two sprinkler breaks before they flooded out the neighbors or even causing serious property damage to their home. We performed the sprinkler repair to the best of our ability, same day service, under the price that we quoted Mrs Gurr and have all signatures from Mrs Gurr who approved the work on our work proposal and she signed the credit card transaction, plus we did more work than what was initially quoted and did it under the price that was qouted. All that for $335.00 which is under $350.000, a pretty good deal! We regret the actions of Mr Justin Gurr, he has apologized for acting this way via a text to me personally. Now he has escalated the matter by defaming our company name on Google, yelp and now BBB as well as other websites. Some people don?t understand the value of a good sprinkler technician!
Ryan was very detailed in his explanation of the quote he gave and what his work would entail. This was very helpful to me and my wife in deciding to go with Avant. At first the price seemed a bit high, but Ryan explained to us about Avant's quality and that they back their product, work, and services. Ryan was easy to work with. He kept us up to date with what was going on and answered our questions promptly. Our landscaping and sod turned out great. It turned out just as Ryan had helped us envision it would be. We are so pleased with the finished product. Our money was well spent. Thank you Ryan and staff!
Troy was prompt and completed my sprinkler valve replacement in a timely manner. He was courteous and explained everything well.
Avant was able to get my sprinklers repaired while I was in another state. They sent me pictures and did everything over the phone with me since I had already moved. I would highly recommend them. Troy communicates well and consistently and treats you like any customer would want to be treated. With respect and tells you exactly what's going on. I highly recommend him and his company for any project you have.
Troy was very good about explaining many choices that dealt with the issue I was having and how to resolve it. I felt that he gave me good long range views on the project so I could get the best value. He also explained about another service they provide that I can use in the future.
