With The Grain Professional Hardwood Flooring

Wow. Just amazing work. We hired With the Grain to refinish our hardwood floors. They were incredibly thorough, even staining four different color options for us to view for a day (so we could see it in several different types of light). Their attention to detail, the quality of their work, their timeliness, their communication, etc. were all top-notch. Would use them again in a heartbeat. Also, love that it is a family business.

I hired Tom and family to replace the carpet in the master bedroom and closet with hickory. Their estimate was 30% less than the first estimate I received! They finished in two and a half days, did a good clean-up, and the floor looks exceptional. They were knowledgeable, professional and courteous. I really don't have a single complaint. I wish I' have done this sooner.

We hired With the Grain to replace carpet on two floors, and also to refinish pre-existing wood floors and on the main floor replace carpet with wood flooring. Main concern was their promise. They promised us, unfortunately not in writing, that after a year, they would return to put an additional coat of finish on the wood floors. This was restated when they returned after a couple months for items that were not completed. After a year we attempted to contact them numerous times, they never returned any of my calls, emails or texts, and have never come back. Next, the carpet was to be installed after the wood floors. When the wood floors were done, we were informed that the original carpet installers would not be installing the carpet. So, we had to wait to get a new carpet installer. After a couple of days, we had an installer but originally we were told that we would not have to move any furniture to install the carpet but now we would have to. We had to move all the furniture on one floor and half the furniture on the other floor. After the carpet installation, there were several areas where there was markings on the carpet where it was the end of the roll. The owner came back with a pair of small scissors and clipped the marked parts off. After over a year, we have significant spaces between wood planks, there is new wood floor that is a section of the new wood floor that bowed up in a bulge. Also there are noticeable seams in the carpet. When you spend as much as we did and you take the word of the people, you would hope that you get better customer service. As with most, we looked at the reviews and were positive about the company. After a year, greatly disappointed.

Can't speak highly enough of Tom and his crew, Tommy, Chris and Tyler. There work was exceptional and they did a great job explaining the details on the project and expectations. These guys are craftsman who specialize in hardwood floors. Every phase of the project from removing the carpet, weaving in the new wood with the old floors, sanding, filling in the poors to final finish was done with exceptional attention to detail and professionalism. They demonstrated great patience as I waffled on the floor finish and walked me through the merits of going with a satin or semi-gloss top coat. The results were exactly what I wanted. Stain was a perfect complement to the stairs and cabinets. My biggest concern was not being able to tell where the new wood ended and the old wood floor started. It looks like it was all installed at the same time. I cannot recommend With the Grain Professional strongly enough.
