Over the weekend, my heater failed, and because I had previously used Universal Home Services, I called them again in good faith, expecting honesty and fair treatment. Instead, I was met with a shocking display of greed and predatory pricing that the public absolutely deserves to know about. The technician diagnosed the issue as a faulty circuit board. When I asked for the repair cost, I was told it would be $1,100 for the part alone, plus additional labor charges. My eyes nearly popped out of my head. Something felt off, so I did my own research while the tech was still here, and I discovered the exact same part retails for approximately $170. That's not a markup, that's exploitation. I confronted the technician about the outrageous price and immediately declined the service. I fully understand companies need to make profit, and I respect the value of skilled labor. But charging nearly seven times the cost of a part, without transparency, justification, or any attempt at fairness,

We have been waiting for a call back for over 2 weeks. We had a 4k job to ground our above round pool a month ago. We need the inspection certificate to pass the village inspection. It failed after the first try so the company sent someone else to fix the issue in order to be complaint with our village. We waited from 12p-9p for someone to show up. We received a call late that night that they couldn't come and would come the following day. The electrician finally came 7 days ago. He "fixed the issue". He stated we would receive the inspection shortly. The inspection company just "needed a picture" of the change to approve it. My husband has called Universe several times. Left several messages for the DOO with no response. He just got off the phone with a "Chris S" who says he is a project coordinator. He argued with my husband stating, "we are at the mercy of the inspection company". Universe chose this inspection company! We paid for it! Our village inspector is coming tomorrow (appointment made three weeks ago thinking this would be resolved) and we still have no electrical inspection. My husband had surgery Monday and is supposed to be healing. I NEVER write bad reviews..i try to resolve first but I have nowhere else to go. All I need is the inspection certificate! My next step will be to stop payment. UGH..what is so difficult here?
Wanted to complain about Universe Home Services, Inc. as they tried to charge him more than quoted when they did not even finished the job due to they did not had the correct tool so they scratch the faucet as they did not had a srap wrench and tried to do it with incorrect tool and took him 2 hours for him to know he was not able to do it. The gut who arrived was courteous but the company was bad so I had to hire someone outside of Angi who did the work in 5 minutes.
