Write a ReviewMy husband won a countertop at their open house. We decided we would like it put in our summer home in Newberry in the UP! Jeff was more than helpful getting this organized . My husband did the measurements and MKD had the quartz counter top deleted up north. We are still putting the finishing touches on the kitchen but the quartz is a beautiful addition! We would highly recommend MKD kitchen and bath!
My husband and I worked with Jen from MKD/Battle Creek to help make our kitchen remodel a success. She was patient and informative to our many questions and quickly addressed any concerns and expectations. Jen helped determine the best use of our space, the quality level, and color and stain options of cabinets and their features. She also helped us make the best choices when it came to countertops, tiles, and hardware. We would recommend using MKD Kitchen and Bath Designs and Jen if you have any upcoming needs.
MKD and Jennifer were wonderful to work with!
Chuck helped us pick out and order new cabinets. He was so helpful! Cabinets are installed and we love them. Looking forward to seeing the countertops!
We had an incredible experience working with Jen at MKD for our kitchen renovation. From start to finish, she listened closely to everything we wanted and worked tirelessly to accommodate our budget, even as we were a bit indecisive along the way. She was patient, thorough, and incredibly detail-oriented. Jen went above and beyond, visiting our site twice before starting the two designs, once before ordering cabinets, once before construction, and multiple times during the process. She also made thoughtful suggestions for the contractor, David of Build on Solid Rock, whose work was meticulous and efficient. They also took care of preserving original built ins so we can utilize in a different area. His team was punctual and even finished ahead of schedule—truly phenomenal! Jen thought of absolutely everything, including details we didn’t even know we wanted, ensuring the end result was functional and beautiful. Our 1903 farmhouse presented unique challenges, including an oddly shaped kitchen, 5 doors to different areas, different ceiling heights, and unexpected discoveries during construction (like a section of the kitchen being a former outdoor porch). Jen navigated all of this expertly, and the result is stunning—a space that’s perfect for hosting our guests, entertaining clients for tasting events, and serving as a test kitchen for our catering company. There are a few minor things we might have done differently in hindsight, such as the hood vent. When we removed walls and ceilings during construction, we discovered we could have vented outside instead of using a recirculating vent, which isn’t ideal for our heavy cooking use. That said, this was something we learned after the cabinets were ordered, and it’s not a reflection on Jen’s work. Overall, I love my new kitchen—it’s beautiful, functional, and everything I hoped it would be. I would recommend Jen at MKD 100% to anyone looking to design their dream kitchen. Her expertise and dedication made all the difference. I would also highly recommend her contractor, David of Build on Solid Rock, whose team exceeded all expectations. Thank you, Jen, for creating a space we absolutely love!
We had new countertops and a sink installed in April 2024 through Costco, with MKD handling the installation. We paid over $6,500 for the job. Just 14 months later, we walked into our kitchen to find the sink had completely fallen?due to failed adhesive and the fact that MKD never used the mounting clips that came with the sink. I contacted MKD and sent photos as requested. Days went by with no response. When I followed up, they admitted they had ?overlooked? the photos and promised to call back that afternoon. They never did. After another follow-up, they informed me the installation was only covered under a one-year warranty and that I would need to pay a $500 service fee just to have the sink reattached. Our sink is now literally being held up by 2x4s. This issue could have been avoided with proper installation and could easily be resolved with a quick visit but MKD refuses to take responsibility. Think twice before hiring MKD. In my experience, they have been careless, unresponsive,
I had my kitchen, remodeled everything went perfect until the countertop installation. They did not cut it long enough to reach the end of the run a.k.a. a gap between the the edge of the countertop. And I have been getting the runaround on taking care of this for the last three weeks. The installers were great, but the fabrication was not correct. For somebody who's been in business for 75 years and uses a laser level I really don't understand how it could've been short a half an inch. Beyond that the headache to get this corrected is absolutely unacceptable.
