Steven Lucero

We hired Steven Lucero to work on the renovation of our master bathroom. Our plumber removed the old shower and tub. Mr. Lucero wanted $10k+ up front to remove old tile, construct a pony wall, and retile the shower and the area around the tub. We settle on $5k up front and the remainder on timely and satisfactory work. Mr. Lucero worked very sporadically and his communication was very poor. I was concerned about him from the beginning so did not pay him up front. After an incident when he appeared to be impaired when he came to the house, we fired him. After more than a month of "work," very little had actually been done but Mr. Lucero demanded to be paid the originally agreed upon up front payment, as if he had actually done the work. He also wanted us to pay for materials that were not used on our job. My husband and I are in our 70's and feel that he was trying to take advantage of us.

Steve and his crew did a great job with three areas that needed tile work, our front and back lanais and our kitchen backsplash. They were prompt, personable and efficient. Mikey, the tile setter, did an excellent job of taking the tile lay pattern that we preferred and making it work perfectly for the space. He communicated a sense of pride in his work that gave us confidence and which showed in the execution of his meticulous tile setting work. Steve advised us about grout color for our backsplash and I'm glad he did because it turned out really nice. Recommend highly.

The tile installation for the backsplash was challenging. The work was OK. But there was one section of the tile that was put in backwards. The tile around the outlets were not cut away enough so we the homeowners had to fix that ourselves. There were many many many air holes in the grout so we had to end up re grouting it ourselves. I'm guessing that if it wasn't a herringbone application then the work would have been better.

Steven Lucero is the owner of L/S Marble and Granite located on the Big Island in Kona Town. He has been in his business for many years and is known by most of the stone and tile suppliers in that area. We hired Steve and his crew to help us with materials and the necessary labor to remodel our kitchen counters with quartz and add a new backsplash. He was knowledgeable in helping us to understand what would be needed to accomplish this project, the timeline involved and related costs. He provided us with numerous references for similar projects and lists of material suppliers along with guidelines on the type/size of stone slabs to purchase to minimize waste of the quartz counter tops as they come in standard sizes and are then cut down to fit into the install space. Steve took care of most all of the logistical aspects of the job from picking up the counter tops from our supplier, demolition of the old counter tops and back splash, building the base for the new counter tops the sit on, creating a template to be used to cut the quartz fit the job space. They handled all clean up and disposal of construction waste. Steveâ s and his crew arrived when agreed and left the work area clean at end of each work cycle. His tile installer did a masterful job with the backsplash material and grouting of same. Good knowledgeable people. We were very satisfied with the results and timeline to complete the work. We have several other projects and will be inviting Steve to help us with those. We would gladly recommend L/S Marble and Granite â Steven Lucero to help you with your related projects. This contractor was very responsive and timely. Work was done on a timely manner and very professionally.

Price kept adjusting upward . Communication between team not always best. They did begin and complete work quickly.
