Reviews
Write a ReviewVan was extremely patient and helpful with us in our decision of exactly what we wanted, even after we changed our minds twice and he had to redue everything. Rarely have I dealt with a contractor as accommodating an positive as van. He may not be the least expensive but definitely worth the cost.
I wish I could give zero stars for our experience with Statement Hardwood Flooring and its owner, Van. We hired them in October 2024, expecting our floors to be completed before Thanksgiving, as agreed upon. Unfortunately, the entire process was a nightmare that left us with ruined floors, costly repairs, and months of frustration. Van’s work ethic was completely unprofessional—he would show up around 6 PM on random days, work for a few hours (while mostly taking phone calls), and then leave. Instead of being upfront about his lack of experience with the finish we wanted, he pushed us toward a dark stain simply because it was easier for him. Had we known he didn’t know how to do the job properly, we would have never hired him. Not only did he miss the original deadline, but he also had the audacity to request a progress payment, which we regret paying. After that, he disappeared for two more weeks, prioritizing another job while we were left living in our basement, waiting for him to finish. He would then show up unannounced, working late into the night—sometimes until 3 AM—which obviously led to poor craftsmanship and major mistakes. When he finally attempted to finish, he botched the process so badly that he had to resand the floors, which was the final straw for us. We had to kick him off the job. On top of everything, his sloppy work ruined our freshly painted baseboards and brand-new expensive cabinets—rolling product onto them and damaging cabinet doors that had to be completely replaced. In the end, hiring Van cost us thousands of dollars in repairs and bringing in another company to fix his disaster. As of February 2025, we are still dealing with the mess he left behind. We missed the holidays in our home because of him, and I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone. Stay far away!
An almost identical experience as the other one star review. The only major difference being we were never refunded for doing our own demo as we were told we would be. Constant excuses about the money and not responding about it. Do yourselves a favor and find another company as this was the worst contracting experience imaginable.
We had them refinish our floor while we were out of town and came home to what looked like a new floor (despite it being 20 years old). It looks fantastic! They came several times before we left to make sure we got the exact color we wanted. We are very happy with it!
We had Van come on in last summer and do our floors. We added a lot of work on. Had a crazy bit of tile to tear out and they did it fast and it all looks amazing. I enjoyed working with Van. His guys worked hard and efficient. The floors looks so good and we get compliments all the time from people on them.
We foster dogs and they did some damage to our existing flooring. We were very happy with Statement Hardwood Flooring. They were able to repair some sections of our floors, and what could not be repaired, new Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) was installed. Beautiful work at a reasonable cost. We are more than happy to put out the good words of our experience and support this local company.
