Robert was very prompt. His work was great. He cleaned up leaving the bathroom spotless. His estimate for time the job would take was spot on. I would hire him again. He replaced a row of grout right next to the tub. Very happy with the results.

Replace or Repair Grout

I've been renovating apartments for over 40 years and know a good contractor when I see one. Robert Bassuk with R&B Tile is that contractor. His quote was fair and realistic for the scope of the work. $750.oo per day is substantial no doubt, but the reviewed companies that are expert at this in the LA area are few. So, if you have custom tile work that stands out for your property, prepare to pay up. The good news is that if you bite that bullet with R & B Tile you can expect the highest level of expertise and care for a physically demanding job that requires detailed attention, in the fastest time possible. Robert was excellent at his job and used better materials than "Home Chepo". He made sure I was happy along the way, and performed clean up masterfully too. My job only took 2 days compared to other rip off contractors who wanted to practically homestead! ;-) The final result was a custom Travertine walk in shower that look like it was new instead of over 24 years old! Worth it. Period! Thanks Robert.

All things being equal, i *want* to recommend this company - overall they are good people, and they have competitive pricing and quality workmanship. But they give a quote for a project based on DAILY RATE x Expected # Days, and if the work takes longer, you pay more. So, a two day project that ends up taking three will increase your quote by 50%, which happened to me. Additionally, one step of the project, sealing the tile, was not done, and despite numerous contacts, I was never able to get them to schedule a return to finish that.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
