Project was to rebuild chimney top courses and crown. First, the Mason did a great job; obvious focus on quality workmanship. He took the time to find the correct replacement brick, matched the mortar color and even did a soldier course. The job was completed in a timely fashion. Omega replaced a section of gutter that they accidently damaged, without me asking. The issues I had were 1) Initial quote was reasonable. After the job started Omega charged me an additional $1500 for "additional interior brick courses and wood removal from chimney interior". The Mason had the wood bits removed in less than 5 minutes and perhaps one additional course (that's six bricks at most) was rebuilt. 2) When the job was complete, the existing rain cap was not re-installed on the fireplace flue. When I questioned the owner and asked for the cap to be reinstalled, the owner insisted that a rain cap was not needed / desirable where the flue has a top damper. During the first heavy rain, water (a steady drip) leaked into the fireplace. I discussed the leak with a CSIA-Certified Chimney Sweep and subsequently bought and installed a new rain cap myself. I have another chimney that is in need of repair. Omega will not be doing the work.

Good communication, kept work area clean. Recapped chimney and resealed. Cost was a bit high for the work performed. But it looks very good and hopefully it won't leak anymore.

Job was a TALL 3 stories (2 stories plus a very tall peak) plus a 7:12 pitch . In fact , access was so bad , I believe the job was a bit under bid. Also first attempt to do the job was aborted because the wasp issue was so bad. How ever, the Halseths were very responsive and quick to get the exterminators for us. Great folks ! Would work for again !
