Adam and his team are very hard workers. There were a few issues that surfaced throughout the process and Adam address all in a professional manner. Adam offered to deliver more rock that I requested, Adam gave me, a disabled Veteran, a 10% military discount, he saved me money by showing me how to move the sprinkler heads out of the way of the fence, I questioned Adam about securing the bottom of fence to keep puppies in and initially he said, that would be extra and after some discussion, Adam said he would do this stabilization for me at no cost. Adam is very efficient and answered my texts or phone calls in a timely manner. Adam also agreed to allow me to pay half upon completion of fence and pay the other half the next month. Overall, I am very satisfied with Adam and his team and I would highly recommend him to others. He is honest, hard working and patient and those are the traits in a successful business.

We put out on facebook a few months before we bought our new house last year that we would be looking for someone to do a fence when we closed. Adam came highly recommended by multiple people so we decided to go with him. we closed on the house July 8th and asked that the fence be done before August 8th as we were doing a housewarming/going away party for my deployment. From the very beginning he was very hard to get ahold of and most of the time took days to get back to us, even for the most simple of questions. We new this was his "busy time" but it shouldn't take that long to get back to a customer. Fast forward to a couple weeks before the event and they only have the posts cemented in, and it has been this way for about 4 days. I asked when they planned on coming back because when they were in doing the posts they said they will be back in the next day or two to put up panels. He told me that he didn't have the panels and might not be able to get them in time to finish the fence before the date asked, but did say if I located panels he would go get them to put them on but he said they checked all the Menards locations around and there were none. I don't 100% remember where I located them, but he said it would be another $250 on top of the fence price to go and get them. I reluctantly agreed because we needed it done, but told him that they should have had materials before saying they could get the job done. I understand Covid made these materials hard to get, but they should not have said they would get it done if they didn't know whether or not they could. Fast forward to a few days before our event and the fence is up, he did end up going and getting them from a different town and didn't charge us to go get it, which we were very appreciative of considering I did agree to pay it. Most of the fence looked great minus the few panels that I have attached a video of. Those of which he told me would "wash off in the rain" but never did. Fast forward again to the middle of September. I am in the process of mobilizing and my wife sent me a couple pictures of the gate that was starting to warp very badly. We asked for a 6ft wide gate that way we could get a mower and stuff through it and they didn't put any bracing on it what so ever. I texted Adam again, asking him to come over and look at it and to fix it. He put braces on it but they were put on incorrectly and only temporarily fixed our issue, but everything froze and my wife didn't notice again until the March/April timeframe. I messaged him again on May 1st asking him if anything could be done about it because the panels looked rotten from the road, and the gate was still warped. He told me he he would drive by and take a look, but it wasn't warped after he reworked it last fall and will also look at the panels as well. He messaged me again on May 9th stating "I did go by and look at that. I looked over all the panels and there doesnâ t seem to be anything wrong with them and surely not rotten. The gate is warped and we can certainly replace it if you would like, that will cost $250 for a new gate." I guess I just expected more quality work, for spending almost $6,000 on a fence and not for it to look a decade old the day it was finished. I also wasn't asking for him to replace the gate either time, I just wanted it reworked and the braces put on correctly, but we will do it ourselves as I am not paying him any more money to fix something they did incorrectly from start. Again, I was happy with 90% of the fence, but its all the little things that added up. In short, I wouldn't recommend Mertz Fencing to anyone else.
