With my 34 years of experience in the tile and stone industry, I have learned the proper skills in restoring most tile and stone. Heavy foot traffic, foods, oils, water deposits, efflorescence and weather can all stain and damage your surfaces permanently. I use many different cleaning techniques, from light cleanings to deep aggressive stripping, I am confident I can make your tile and stone look their best. It is critical that all porous surfaces be sealed. Once cleaned, I use a variety of sealants to best suit your situation and help provide protection and prevent future staining, deterioration and costly replacement. I am professional and courteous and look forward to helping you. References are available. Our minimum is $150.

How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I enjoy working with tile and stone. As a tile and stone installer for more than 30 years, I have worked with many different materials on interiors and exteriors. I am familiar with a wide range of stripping, cleaning and sealing products to protect and preserve the life of your tile and stone. I specialize in cleaning and sealing the more porous types of tile and stone such as: Saltillo, Tecate and other Mexican tiles. Ceramic, porcelain and other less-porous surfaces also benefit from my cleaning techniques. I am able to remove most finishes, heavy water deposits, molds and fungi. I do grout cleaning, re-grouting and caulking to help avoid leaks in kitchens, bathrooms, fountains, etc. I am also a mosaic artist. I have designed backsplashes, floors, tables, wall art, murals, mirrors, vases, fountains and more using a variety of different tile and stone. Joe cleaned and restored our tile floor and grout of 23 years to its original beauty. He took extra care to release dirt and grime from the kitchen and other heavily trafficked areas in order to create a uniform clean look throughout the house. We have had our travertine floor stripped, cleaned and resealed before, but Joe did the best job by far. He is extremely professional, lets you know what to expect and gives you professional tips on how best to maintain the tile. I'll be using him again!

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
