Garrett is a great young man, who really did a wonderful job of selling himself to my wife & I. Unfortunately his concrete finish work was poorly done, and easily noticeable. He had told me due to unforeseen circumstances he was working on our project a bit short handed, and had an 18yr old with very little cement experience helping him out. The over-all job looked sloppy, with concrete pieces laying all over my front and back yard, certainly a MUCH better cleanup job should have been done. My wife and I have spent numerous hours picking up cement debris and we still have many hours ahead! As far as the cement finish being rough and uneven in several areas, we are doing our best to cover up the flaws, but that's an impossible task! We sent several pictures of his mistakes, and Garrett commented "I see the flaws you are talking about". By now because the cement had dried, he couldn't do much to rectify his poor cement job. My wife reluctantly paid Garrett the balance owed once we thought the job was completed. However the job wasn't finished, he hadn't glued down the caps of a retaining wall he had built. I texted him about that and he apologized and glued it down days later. If you're looking for a good price & don't mind cleaning up chunks of cement from your yard, and can settle for below average cement finish work then call Hixon Concrete. We got a good price, but are left feeling like we wasted our hard earned money, and now have to finish up Hixon's left behind cement chunks. Hindsight is 20/20, but if we had to do it again we'd have saved the thousands spent, and hired a more seasoned concrete/cement company. We over-paid and over-estimated the quality of work we thought we'd be receiving, sadly a very difficult lesson was learned.
