Four key pieces of feedback regarding Great Lakes: 1) When presented with questions, communication breaks down readily. Throughout the course of our interactions, it was very unclear who was the key contact for reasonable questions about our project. When questions are finally answered, the tone tends to be dismissive and condescending, as if the questions were annoying or beneath them. 2) If they determine the project will be difficult, they will simply cancel your contract without any effort at all to discuss options with you. They will tell you in person that everything is fine, and then send an impersonal email dictating the contract is null and void. When approached about what to do next, their counsel will boil down to ânot our problemâ, without offering any resources or suggestions. 3) When feedback is given on areas that could use improvement, their response is that customer service standards used in reputable, well run businesses are not relevant to their industry, disregarding reasonable suggestions as irrelevant. 4) They are quite willing to make a sale, to tell you what you want to hear to sign a contract. Every single issue that they considered problematic when they abruptly canceled on us (after we had already made expensive purchases for the remodel) were discussed on the initial meeting, and were reportedly âjust fineâ. Understand, the initial sales person may not know what they are talking about, getting you hooked into something much bigger and more complicated than they lead you to believe. Note, the system requires I review work quality and value for money to submit this feedback, but I am not really able to fully assess these areas fully, for reasons noted above. Customer service would be accurately described with a score of 0/5.

The first and foremost reason is, when members of Marketing, Production and Treasury sat down to discuss what could be done with your project, we came to the logical conclusion we believed would please you. We cancelled your agreement and gave you a full refund. We considered all factors when we came to this difficult decision, after re-visiting the many phone calls and e-mails we had received from you. Since we knew you had expressed (what we had interpreted as) regret over your contract, felt confidently that, by letting you out of your agreement, we would be doing the right thing. We wish to clarify we felt this decision was doing the right thing by you. The second reason we are saddened to see this is we feel we really gave you our best effort to make your project work. After our Production Team looked closely at the details of your remodel we decided that as a business, we could no longer guarantee you would be satisfied with the overall result. Rather than present you with something at the end that displeased you, we wanted to make it right by you and admit our own inadequacy. It was very nice to meet you and your family, and we wish to apologize for any inconvenience or hurt feelings that occurred. We wish you all the best and hope your bathroom remodel is all you hoped it could be!

Save yourself some stress and hire another contractor. My husband and I signed on with them. After providing a down payment, and purchasing thousands of dollars in bathroom fixtures they are telling us that they won't do the job because there are too many "unknown variables." This is after we were repeatedly reassured that the project could be completed without difficulty. If you are renovating in an older house, I would not trust them to finish their work for an agreed upon dollar figure. My sense is that they are willing to say anything to land a sale, and ask questions later. Now we are deciding if we should return all of our fixtures, or try to find a re-modeler who will agree to install what we have purchased ourselves.

They were more than I wanted to pay but the shower is well done and the materials are quality. Got it done relatively quick. A little bit difficult to deal with for setting up appointments and communication. Cancelled the first appoint for our quote at the very last min.
