Reviews
Write a ReviewGrady has done a wonderful job on repairs to our cemetery chapel. We had significant damage to the ceiling in the chapel which was built in1922 using the old methods with horsehair and pig bristle. Grady's repairs look exactly like the original ceiling's plaster work. I will recommend Mr. Grady's craftsmanship to everyone. Excellent work. Bob Morris VP Trustee Cortland Rural Cemetery
Grady was very professional and showed well knowledge in what he does. He went leaps and bounds above his normal duties, and also showed a real concern for our buildings problem. He was super fair on pricing and very detail oriented in his findings.
Grady is very friendly and does a great job. He is honest. He didn't ask for any money until well into the job, almost done. Then the balance due at the completion of the job. He is true to his word.
It is with deep satisfaction that I recommend Gradys Painting and Plastering & Construction. Mr. George Grady is a skilled craftsman. He was hired to correct long neglected and extensive masonry and window issues on a large, beautiful Presbyterian Church built in the Civil War era in Philadelphia. The property was neglected with only minimal maintenance performed over the last 40+ years. The building was in severe decline and in need of stabilization and restoration on many fronts. Cracked ledge plates were chipped out and reestablished, internal walls damaged by leakage were broken out and repaired, brickwork was repointed and in severe cases reestablished to original strength and beauty. Leaks around the base of the building were addressed to stabilize deterioration of the foundation. Large rotted window sills under beautiful stained glass windows were restored after significant masonry reestablishment due to water damage under the rotted out sills. Broken and missing stained glass windows are in the process of repair and replacement. The process started with new metal frames cast by Mr. Grady. The new frames will hold clear painted replications of the original stained glass, also crafted by Mr. Grady. Regular windows all around the church and manse were also repaired and restored. Roof leaks were accurately identified and repaired. A sagging plaster ceiling has been torn out and restored. All this work was done by Mr. Grady alone or with an occasional helper. He worked with care, expertise and respect for the original structure. The results far exceeded our expectations and have injected new life into a building on the brink. This building, owned by the Presbytery of Philadelphia, now houses a new urban ministry in a newly gentrifying area of the city. We are happy to have had the good fortune to be connected to Gradys Painting and Plastering & Construction by Service Magic.

Mr. Grady was great initially. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. He worked hard and pulled in others to assist; however, one day he just never came back to finish. I hope everything is ok with him.
was, hired to rebuild a stone front porch. prior,to starting of th is job the city of philadelphia issued a building danger violation the client did not disclose of this informathion until after the contract was agreed upon, and legally set in motion. at that point i had no way to turn other then to at least on my part,to keep my word, and do the job. the city of philadelphia officially gave me aok, on the job when fully completed. a set of pictures, were taken before job was started, during the job and after job was fully completed and inspected by the city of philadelphia. also, there was no complaints or any one complant to service magic
great price, timely work. very professional
very meticulous and detailed, excellent outcome
well, you see the results, consumers windows were 109 years old at time of repairs.a wood window professionally restored will outlast any modern replacement window several times over.this is partly because its original period craftsmanship, but mostly it is because the first growth lumber used in period construction is far more stable, dense and rot resislant than any now available it doesnt make sense to replace a beautiful historic window that can last another century with modern replacement window which will last only 15 to 20 years..thats also true for,any type of small repairs, including, any wooden window 50 years and older.
We've hired many contractors, and few compare to Grady. We hired Grady to waterproof our basement. He performed the work with uncommon skill. Going beyond fixing the problem, he resculped our walls to yield a finished product that looked better than we anticipated. 4 years later, he returned to patch up a few cracks that developed, free of charge! I don't know of any other contractor that would provide this level of warranty/service. A consummate professional, he not only performs expert work, but also returns phone calls in a timely manner and is refreshingly honest and fair in terms of contracts and payment. We highly recommend him!
Grady's did lathe and plaster repair in several rooms in my 100+ year old home. The work is holding up very well. He was timely and provided step by step information on the processes and timeframes during the entire job.
