My job was extremely small, just repairing squirrel damage to the flashing around our chimney. They were extremely prompt in responding and did a great job for an extremely reasonable price. I am very appreciative.

We had a great experience working with G.A. Doughty Construction. From the start, their team was communicative, responsive, and collaborative—making sure we were involved and informed at every step. They helped us navigate and recover from a difficult prior experience, stepping in with professionalism and integrity to get the work done right. Their commitment to quality and transparency gave us real peace of mind, and we’re grateful for their expertise and support throughout the project.

The subcontractor did an excellent job installing our new metal roof. We are quite happy with it.

I hired this company to build an apartment over my garage. The time estimate was 4 months, but they disappeared for weeks at a time, and it took a full year for 650 sq ft. The contractor was only on-site three times (to collect his checks). The subs were excellent, but the boss had no knowledge or interest in building to code. Pipes were run along outside walls (NOT recommended), not insulated, and not heat-taped. When the pipes froze, I was directed to put a heat pump in my garage. For 4K more, I did and heated the garage to 60 degrees. The pipes still froze. I hired a plumber and another contractor who told me that NO ONE legitimate does work this way. I had to remove the drywall and add insulation and heat trace tape. The owner had NO INTEREST in rectifying a situation he created. As a professional and business owner, I advise you to look elsewhere.
Response from Company:
As general rule Gail we do not ever just put heat tape on pipes for clients. That is a quick fix more along the lines of a homeowner fix or a half assed handyman solution. We brought this issue up to you many times, both myself and our plumber Dave XXXX. When you have a finished space above a garage with plumbing the lower level should always be heated. You told both of us that you didn't think it was necessary and you didn't want to spend the extra money. Furthermore you at any point could have contacted Dave the plumber who did the work on your project to discuss a solution to any plumbing issues since you had his contact info and had previously discussed things with him before. We are not licensed plumbers. We sub-contract to licensed Plumbers and Electricians. If there is ever and issue with either plumbing or electrical that is their responsibility and should be addressed by them. Really has nothing to do with us accept for making the contact. It has been brought to my attention that you have left a derogatory, nasty and untrue review on Angi leads/Home Advisor. Your review was nothing short of being completely false. First off your project was delayed due to having to completely rebuild your floor system in your garage which was unexpected and above and beyond our original job scope. This obviously messed up our schedule and caused the entire job to fall behind. As you know every contractor in the state has been flooded with work and being able to keep time frames and meet deadlines is nearly impossible. Not to mention the kitchen cabinet issues due to you taking it upon yourself try and have Lowes or yourself measure for cabinets and getting the entire kitchen done incorrectly. This set us back about 6 weeks. Your claim that "I was only on the job a few times just to collect a check" is 100% false. We have gps tracking units on all of our company vehicles which we can show all the time stamps of when both myself and other project managers were there on site as well as all the employees. I was there myself on a weekly/bi-weekly basis Gail, not just to collect a check as you falsely claim. As for your accusations that we "Do not build things to code", that also is 100% false. We build everything to code on every project. We worked with your local code enforcement officer to complete the project and also had every necessary inspection done that was required by them. Hence why you got an occupancy permit at the end and all inspections were signed off on. We have all documentation of every bit of this. When we completed your project we did several walk throughs with you to ensure your satisfaction. We completed your punch lists and you were completely satisfied and paid your final invoice. Blasting me and my company over a year later for things that were brought to your attention and that you refused to move forward with is ridiculous and unwarranted. Not only is every claim you made false and can be proven to be such, it is slanderous and demeaning to say the least. We have been in business for almost 25 years and have hundreds of very satisfied clients and a very solid reputation. Therefore we will not take your false accusations lightly. Everyone is certainly entitled to their opinions however facts are facts and we can prove every single one of your claims to be false with ample documentation. I have cc'd our attorney in this email and will be meeting with him about filing suit against you for slander and deformation against myself personally and my business if you do not remove your false review on any and all media platforms immediately.

I can't overstate the quality of the work these folks did. We had our unfinished attic converted to living space, and the space had a lot of funky angles and old framing. G.A. Doughty's team did an incredible job making it work, including a half-bath! We're very pleased with the result. Everyone at G.A., the project manager, office staff, and all the subcontractors were very polite and fun to work with. Everyone who came to the house was very friendly. The only issue we had was that for a few months during the middle of the project, things seemed to stall out for about 6-8 weeks. I think they were having some availability issues with subcontractors and were overloaded from other projects.
Response from Company:
Your space came out incredible! Subcontractors are super busy and are difficult sometimes to pin down. Thank you so much for your kind words!
