Write a ReviewWe hired Mike in 2020 right before our daughter was born. We needed and wanted a special addition in our bedroom, My wife and I dreamed of a big shower and a special place to wine down after our 12 hour days (both in the medical field). We saw mikes ad somewhere online and decided to call him, when we told him our idea he was very optimistic and was sure he can work something out for us ( he's a jack of all trades). Everything started out smooth we immediately wrote him a check for the deposit to start working Mike showed up first week. slowly started coming less, once twice three times a week. He expressed to us that he Doesn't work Fridays. We specifically expressed wanting a big 5x5 shower that we dreamed of always wanted, drew us up a plan for a smaller one. We wanted to pick out a nice vanity, Mike had other plans in mind. Wanted a pocket door, Mike tells us we cant it wont work, his partner disagrees and explains to him how it will work. At this point My wife and I can tell Mikes not a fan us lol , but honestly we don't really care since we're the customer and we've paid him, this is the line of work he chooses, we pay his bills, not the other way around. Instead of trenching the floor he decides to put in a "Sani flow" which he is adamant that he has installed plenty of times and feels confident with this being the best option. Mike does not install the Sani flow correctly, as the discharge pipe was not secured properly resulting in a major mess . the out come? Raw sewage and water spraying all out from behind our toilet , we lucky heard a noise and decided to call a plumber, when he opened up the crawl space Michael installed ( which we had to make bigger because it was to small to even reach your arm into the access the Sani flow" we see the worst outcome, water, sewage. The plumber we hired was adamant that whoever installed this Sani flow did not secure the clamp to the discharge pipe correctly and also cut it too short , resulting in water and pressure and raw sewage to spray out slowly over time ( because of the build up inside of the Sani flow). The macerater was clean, no obstruction. the Sani flow was working properly, it was the installation. When we texted Mike about this, he responded with short careless responses to my wife, of course he wouldn't come check it out, its a Saturday night he cant be bothered. Just sit and imagine this for a second, all this is happening in your bathroom, now your shower your sink and toilet are out of service and you text the guy who you had install it and he doesn't text back and when he does its short and with no care of the situation? He did say he would sell us a new Sani flow for $500. Hire yourself someone that will stand by their work, and if there is an issue, be a man and show up and correct his errors. Not some young guy driving a 60 thousand dollar work truck that works three days a week, and does not want to do what the customer wants, but what's gonna make him the most money by doing the least work and not only that but the job and work is done incorrectly.
Mike Furlong is meticulous. He and his second hand man did a fantastic job building a deck for me this past month. I have already had two friends ask me for his name for future projects!
Great attitude toward his work and pleasant/friendly personnel
Mike is a diligent worker and did what was required in the contract. We signed up with him early in the summer, but he did not get to our job until October. Once started he completed the job which required demolition of an old deck, reinforcing of the base with some additional posts and building a composite deck on top of an existing structure. He is not strong on finishing detail, but the basic structure is excellent.
Mike kept me informed of his timing, plans, changes on a daily basis. Workplace was always kept immaculate. Quick to come to give an estimate and answered all my questions about products and price differences. Built a beautiful Trex deck that is just what I wanted. Highly recommend them!!
Mike is dependable & does very nice work! We actually liked him so much that we're having him come back next week to do more work. I would definitely recommend Furlong Construction to family & friends!
Mike is a personable professional. Did a beautiful paint job. Only problem was a few things that should of been done didn't get done. He said he would come back. Never heard from him again.
I feel strange writing a review like this as many here have had a good experience with Mike as did I when we first met, which is why I hired him to build our deck. He was very personable and professional and got things moving quickly with our project. I paid him half up front and he started immediately. He worked quickly even when he ran into some structural issues they were solved and he moved forward. He was done in about two weeks and I walked over the project with him to see the finished deck. He had mentioned that the railings he put on were not wide enough to cover the railing posts to the stairs and would replace them with wider boards if I would like, as well as take care of some giant pieces of broken concrete left from construction. I said I would like them done and paid him in full, he said he would be back by the end of the week. Needless to say, I have not seen Mike in about FOUR months to return to finish this job. I have big concrete blocks in my yard, and the railings on the deck are still not correct. I have been super patient and understanding, but Mike has definitely taken advantage of that. I am obviously not a priority once IÂ’ve paid. IÂ’ve sent emails, texts, etc. and I either get nothing or a quick dodgy reply. I know people here have had a better experience than this and IÂ’m glad for that, unfortunately this is my experience and I will not be using nor recommending Furlong Home Inprovement in the future.
Mike was very personable, professional and first class workmanship. HeÂ’ll be back to do another project for us.
Great communication. was awsome with my 6 year old who looked forward to "helping" him every day liked him so much hired him to do another job
