The detailed estimate was great. There was a disconnect between that and the actual painter ... perhaps a language barrier. A different paint was used than was promised.
they do a great job on time.
They did a great job communicating with me. They were aware of my needs and very respectful.
They kept me informed as to time schedule, costs, and issues incountered. If anything came up that we had not addressed it was discussed before acted upon.
They followed my painting directions very well, and were careful around windows and doors. I'd recommend them.
Worked quickly and good quality
They had people come back three times to paint the wood on the outside of my house. The contract stated that it would be sprayed, along with using a roller. The first crew said their sprayer was broken and did a terrible job rolling the paint on. It was never sprayed and the gables needed to be sprayed. The boss said they didn't need it even though the last painter said it did but he didn't bring a sprayer. I got tired of dealing with them.
The painters did a very good job based on what they were instructed to do, but therein lies the core of my problem with 5-star. The painters were not properly instructed because our sales person, Chris, did not manage our project worth a crap. I had 3 companies come out and give us an estimate, all three were told the exact same thing regarding the work we wanted done, which was the entire interior to be painted, paint 1 accent wall a different color than the rest of the house, paint inside the closets and spray 2 closet doors, excluded was the master closet, ceilings and 2 walls. All three were told that they would have to work around my carpenter, ALL agreed. All three were around the same price (within a few hundred dollars). I went with 5-star because we were in a time crunch and they were the only ones who could start right away. As it turns out though Chris completely left a bedroom and one of the bathrooms off of our job. Of course, I didn't realize this until after the job was done and I was left painting the walls myself. Had Chris quoted the whole house (like I asked, and like he should have) then 5-star prices would most likely not have been as competitive. On the first day the job began Chris called me and emphatically told me that the interior of the closets were not part of the job, that they were never discussed, and that he "never even measured the closets" - I knew we had discussed the closets, I knew that he measured the closets, but I didn't have the agreement on me so I said fine. Later my wife sent me over a picture of part of the agreement that showed the closets were in FACT part of the job. His excuse for not knowing this detail, he didn't have the agreement in front of him when the painters called questioning the closets. So then why call me and so emphatically assert that the closets were not included? At the end of the second day (Friday), I get another call from Chris asking me when my carpenters were going to be done I told him that the soonest they would be done would be Monday, but most likely Tuesday. Late Sunday night I get yet another call from Chris asking if the carpenters were done. I reminded him that I had told him on Friday that they did not work on the weekend. Chris went on to say that the painters were having problems with tape not sticking because of dust, and that the carpenters were removing masking that the painters had put up, at this point, I lost it. I reminded him that HE agreed that the painters could work around the carpenters. I talked to my wife, and turns out NONE of what he said was true. First, my wife was onsite every minute and the carpenters never touched the masking material. Second, the carpenters did all their cutting outside so they were not creating a dust problem. I personally inspected the walls and ceilings and there was no dust. My wife was not at all pleased with the painters complaining when the job requirements were made very clear, so she let them
Five Star Painting worked well for us. Our painter was a little slow but did a great job! He kept his work area clean all day and put everything away before he left at night! We would definitely use this company again!
