THIS COMPANY IS SCAMMING PEOPLE!!! -On 6/24/21, Farnen and Dermer installed a brand new YORK HVAC system in my home. Everything appeared to be fine, and there were no issues for 2 years. -On 8/28/23, I noticed an extremely loud buzzing coming from my outside unit, so I called them to come check on the problem. My unit was still cooling, but extremely loud. Glen A. showed up to diagnose the problem and seemed like a nice enough guy. After about an hour, he informed me that my entire indoor and outdoor unit need full replacement for a total of $10,900. (I paid $7,500 just 2 years earlier). I said, surely this was covered under warranty because the unit was only 2 years old? He then informed me that it was not because it was รข struck by lightning and the warranty does not cover an act of god. -At this point in my head things were not adding up, especially since the unit was still cooling, both of my neighbors units were fine (townhouse) and he did not even check the inside unit. I told Glen I need to think about the replacement because that is a lot of money that I do not have at the time. Glen disconnected my outside unit completely before he left with the hottest week of the summer upcoming (95F-98F) and charged me $189 for the visit. -I am lucky enough to have a Fire Marshall as a good friend to ask him about the situation. This guy sees lightning strikes pretty frequently. He told me there is no way that my unit was struck by lightning based off of what I was seeing and also because it would have gotten to all of my neighbors units (townhouse). He informed me it is literally impossible. THE UNIT WAS STILL COOLING! -I decided to get a 2nd opinion from another company. The other company came out and told me that my compressor was bad and that there was no lightning strike to speak of. They also informed me that it was covered under the warranty and they could fix it. The technician said that he noticed the wiring on the outside unit was incorrect. There was a red wire crossed with a black wire. He said that is exactly why my 2 year old compressor went out. This company even put their findings in writing for me. They replaced my parts and got me up and running for 82% LESS THAN F and D! -I am not the only person this has happened to. It appears to be standard practice. You can see the attached pictures of reviews from other people in the same boat on the Better Business Bureau website. I will be submitting a complaint through BBB and demanding a full refund. This is pure predatory behavior and it is unacceptable!

Farnen and Dermer completely ripped me off! My unit is still under the 10 year warranty which means parts are covered and I am responsible for labor. I confirmed this on the phone when I made my appointment. They fixed my unit today within 30 minutes and charged me $450 dollars for 30 minutes of labor! They first told me it would be $495 and I was shocked and upset and asked the technician to call the office and confirm this is the charge for 30 minutes of labor. The technician called the office and confirmed that was the price of 30 min of labor, but did me favor and reduced it to $450 with a free service visit in the fall. What a scam!! I explained this was unacceptable to charge someone $450 for 30minutes of HVAC labor. A labor change of $450 should be clearly communicated when I made the service call confirming my unit was under warranty. Instead they did the work, without telling me the price, and dropped this ridiculous bill on me and I was stuck!! I would have NEVER agreed to a 30 minute labor bill of $450. What a SCAM and RIPOFF!! Had I known this up front, I would have went to another company. F and D company and warranty is a RIPOFF and SCAM!!!!

We purchased a house that has a new HVAC system from Farnen and Dermer. Within 1 year of us moving in our AC had several massive issues that Farnen and Dermer refused to honor because *we were not the buyers of the system*. Aside from that we found out that due to their neglect when installing the HVAC they forgot to wrap and insulate it, leading to a leek and water damage. Avoid at all costs.

Do NOT hire them for extended maintenance plan. When the AC GUY came out for the annual maintenance ... he was horrible. He was unfriendly, unprofessional.... as he was putting our AC back together, he dropped some screws. I handed them to him(he didnรข t pick them up) & he said they were NOT IMPORTANT. These are newer systems((a/c & furnace purchased thru them)). When I called the office & spoke to the OWNER, he said this was TRIVIAL. & we were wasting his time & admitted it was a new employee. HE was unfriendly & uncaring. SHOP ELSEWHERE for maintenance plan!!
