Downey's Custom Carpentry

This is long overdue. David Downey is the only person I trust for carpentry work. His work ethic, quality of work/attn to detail, and dependability is unmatched. Honestly I was unsure exactly what style crown molding would be best, being a first time homeowner. He showed me some crown molding samples in his book that would be appropriate for my home's style which I admit is modest. He installed crown molding in my office and bedroom. It looks fantastic!!! I was so grateful that he also offered to paint some of it for me. I paid a reasonable price for the trim, painting and labor. Whenever David has been here, there has been peace of mind for me. Most times when someone has been to my home I almost feel like I have to supervise. I never feel that way with David. As a matter of fact there are few people I would trust in my home like I would David other than my plumber. In 2025 the house was put on hold, but I hope to hire him again in the future. Thank you, David!

David rebuilt my deck stairs which are a story or two high and fixed the railing on top of the deck and fixed the supports under the deck. He also fixed and repaired my back porch. It was a lot of work for both projects, but he did a great job on both. He's very easy to talk to and work with and he has a great personality and work ethic. He listened and answered all my concerns and questions I had about both projects. He even listened to my input about making the deck stairs a little better and it turned out great. He did a fantastic job with my deck and back porch. A He's very knowledgeable and fair with his prices. (I needed a licensed contractor I could depend on that knew what he was doing and wouldn't over charge me or screw me over on substandard work. I've had bad experiences with that in the past with a different contractor.) I was lucky to find David on Angie's List. David did fantastic work and fixed everything I needed fixing. I'm definetly use him again.

It is with great confidence that I recommend Downey's Custom Carpentry to anyone. David is a great guy, does excellent work, fair priced, and worked with me in all aspects of the project. I would not go with anyone else out there.

David went above and beyond to help me with my project on rebuilding both my decks, when I was not sure exactly what direction to take he took the time to talk through my options and listened when I had suggestions on what I wanted and worked diligently to make them happen. I appreciate him listening to my actual needs and not just trying to tell me what he thought I needed. He also took the time to answer any questions I had along the way and put my mind at ease that the project would be done to my satisfaction. I would 100% use his service again in the future. He also installed a new back door as well which was above my initial request. Hands down excellent quality work!

Excellent repairs done efficiently.

David was contacted to discuss a ramp to replace the existing steps from my garage into the house. After looking at the situation and much thought he had the courage to suggest stairs instead. He removed the existing brick stairs and built a set of new steps. He kept me informed of the progress through out the entire process. The finished product is amazing and is a testimonial to his skills. I will definitely consider him for any other projects.
