We specialize in assisting clients to identify, remove and replace furnishings that are making them sick. Toxins are emitted from most furnishings produced since 1975 due to chemicals added in the production process and are directly linked to respiratory diseases, cancer and infertility among others. I did 3 modest projects with Adrian and I was very pleased with her ability to do the most with what she had to work with and keep things under budget. Her follow up with her subcontractors was excellent, too.

Interior Decorator

Overall the project is functional. We were disappointed they charge OVER M.S.R.P. (sometimes several hundred dollars more) for the furniture. The room looks nice, but everyone that sees it thinks it's overcrowded, doesn't make sense & looks awkward. We would never hire a decorator again, we were way overcharged - plus many finer furniture stores offer decorating services for free. Additionally, got coffee & end table set that was all wrong for the space, was able to send back coffee table, but are stuck with an end table we paid them $450 for but can't sell it on our own because retail stores have it for less than $130!

We acknowledge this customer was not happy with some of the furniture she selected & made alternative recommendations. We offered to modify or replace a coffee table at our expense & then took it back providing a refund. We buy our products at wholesale & sell them at a fair retail price which covers freight, assembly & our time to select the right furnishings. We provide design expertise & save you time. The end table referred to in her comments cost us more than what she is claiming she could find it for elsewhere. Some retailers can purchase a "knock-off" that looks like a quality piece of furniture and offer it at a lower price. We don't.

We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
