Great job would hire again

I hired American asphalt and paving to repave my driveway/parking lot. The Contractor charged me a premium charge (~$38K) for a drastically substandard job. The driveway is so bad that sections will not last through the winter and I'll be lucky if the driveway last one to two years. Less than one month after being paved, I'm already requesting quotes to have the driveway repaved. The contractor threatened me with the filing a mechanical lien. In the state of New Hampshire, this process is tailored to meet the needs of the contractor. When the contractor breaches the contract the consumer is still holding the short end of the stick. I ended up paying $20,000 for a driveway. This company doesn't know the meaning of quality work, completing the work to the agreed contract (paving thickness, foot print, dimensions, etc.). I was constantly being pacified and lied to by the owner and eventually the estimator (eg; standing water). They took it upon themselves to determine what was best without consulting me. Good examples include the footprint, the dimensions of the driveway and the sidewalk. These are just a few of my 17 item punchlist items, which includes significant drainage issues (3+' water drainage) directly in walking path to the main entrance to the complex and the placement of a PVC pipe placed directly under the walkway asphalt. Here you can walk on the asphalt and see the asphalt actually flexes as you walk across the surface, as well as the PVC pipe having a negative gradient. I don't trust the owner or the estimator of this company, and I directly told them using documented proof. There were little to no effort put forth by the company to fix the problems. If you are considering hiring an asphalt company, I would highly recommend that you stay away from American Asphalt and Paving. As a veteran, their greeting message discuss me. The job was done very professionally from the start. The call back, and the estimate was the same day. The job was scheduled . All prep work was done, sweeping ,edging, and caulking . I would recommend this company. The driveway looks like new!

We had a great experience with them. Job was done one day earlier than promised and the owner and all the workers are very detail oriented. They made some minor modifications from the original driveway which made it function much better. We are more than 100% satisfied with the job and with everyone who worked on it.
