"Nooman was terrific from the beginning. He established and maintained phone contact with me. He was prompt, professional, friendly, courteous, and respectful. He quickly and accurately diagnosed the main problem and he even found two other problems that needed replacement parts. The installation of the new garbage disposal and the attached drain parts are a true work of art. I am thrilled with Nooman's service. I would definitely hire him again!"

"I was VERY impressed with him on his initial visit. He has not done the work as yet, but really seems to know what he is talking about. He pointed things out about the counter top that I hadn't noticed in the 12 years I've been here. What I like about him is that he included at four other things he is going to fix and his bid is no higher than the the others who were only going to repair the two small items I thought were a problem. I can now feel that the entire counter top will be good to go for years to come. If his work is half as impressive as his sales job, it will be very good."

"We were extremely satisfied with the quality of work done! Ken is a total professional, always checking in on the work being done. He was punctual and provided updates on when they would arrive for the work that day. We appreciated his no nonsense approach to the paint job. He takes great pride in a job well done! I highly recommend Fifer painting company and will continue to use them for paint jobs that come up in the future. Great job Ken!"

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
