"Sabino was great to work with. He was professional and thorough when initially inspecting roof. He completed a major job with tear off of layers of asphalt and cedar shingles. He installed the new roof with quality products. Most importantly he worked well with us in a honest manner when issues arose to rebuild a chimney and replace beams on a rotting porch. His prices were very reasonable. He did a solid job cleaning up the area when finished. It is never an easy experience to have an old roof torn off and replaced, but Sabino and his workers made the experience positive."

"Antonio at Ellis Flat Rates was hired to pressure wash my 2 story home and to do some landscaping work. He was very responsive as we had to delay a few days due to rain. On the day that work was performed, he was prompt and well mannered. He did a great job on my backyard which had several weeds. He pulled all the weeds, prepped the soil for the new grass tgat was planted. He was very thorough with the clean up and made sure I was a happy customer before I paid him the remainder of the money (1/2 at start if job, 1/2 at end of job). He also did a good job on pressure washing my house. I would definitely recommend Ellis Flat Rates. The price is reasonable and the owner is a hard worker."

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
