Reviews
Write a ReviewGoing solar felt like a big decision, but NRG Clean Power made it a lot easier than I expected. I appreciated how straightforward and organized everything was throughout the process. Justin Yu stood out because he was honest, easy to talk to, and focused on helping me understand my options instead of rushing me into anything. He stayed available for questions and made the entire experience feel smooth and stress-free. Definitely glad I worked with him.
Aracely Lopez did an excellent job coordinating our installation. She assigned a very professional team of technicians who completed the work efficiently and with great care. We had some scheduling restrictions due to the property being a rental but Aracely managed everything smoothly, ensuring there were no conflicts and that the residents were never disturbed which was very important to my husband and I. Thank you for the outstanding coordination!
Jonathan clearly has an excellent understanding of what he does. In addition, he is patient, explains things clearly and succinctly and shows compassion through the process. Thanks, Jon...a pleasure!
Shelley is a absolute professional who helped me navigate the complex process of uninstalling the existing solar panels, reinstalling, and then submitting paperwork to city planning. Beyond her expertise, she was incredibly empathetic and accommodating. I was juggling the arrival of a new baby while working on this project, and Shelley was exceptionally patient with my delayed responses. Her guidance made a stressful process manageable.
I had my solar project start back in January and throughout the entire process, it has been smooth and well organized. Justin who was our project coordinator made sure that all aspects of the installation went well without any delays. I am glad I chose NRG
No doubt they hire great installation people, but their communication and honoring their quotes has little to be desired. I will elaborate. I was given a quote, left on my voicemail. I responded the next day letting NRG know I accepted their quote. 1 week later I received a phone call telling me they wouldn't honor the quote give, and they cited the reasons as Tarif's. This was back in April 2025. I still went with NRG, albeit at a$1000.00 increase. The second reason I wouldn't recommend this company, and this for me is the final straw, after installing my solar NRG didn't let me know I needed to have an ESR release, in layman's terms this is necessary for your power company to accept your new solar system. I found out this information when they contacted me in August 2025. NEG blamed the company who upgraded my Electrical Panel. NRG INSTALLED MY SOLAR AFTER THE PANEL WAS UPGRADED. Since this company doesn't communicate with its clients I would say go with another company.
I had a very positive experience with NRG during the sales process: the people I spoke to were knowledgeable, easy to talk to, and quick to follow up with answers to my questions. That changed as soon as we signed the contract and paid our deposit. Communication became sporadic at best, with each step of the process taking much longer--in some cases many months longer--than what I was told during the sales process. To be fair, there were external factors that contributed to the delays. Our project involves installing new roofing, and apparently several roofing contractors are still backed up after the winter storms in early 2023. But that doesn't explain or excuse the near-total lack of communication or the apparent lack of interest in moving our project forward. It has consistently been a struggle to get even the most basic details from NRG, and I've had to follow up every few weeks just to see if anyone is still working on our project. I can't speak to the quality of their work because no work has been done, or even scheduled, more than seven months after signing. I strongly recommend against working with NRG.
Don't hire this company! We have solar, and wanted battery backup. We went with NRG Clean Power in April, 2022. I currently have a battery sitting in my garage, uninstalled. EVERY time estimate they have given for completion has been wrong (the first saleswoman said for a simple battery-only install, 6-8 weeks!). As others have said, communications are horrible. The ONLY time this company has initiated contact is when payment is due. In July (after I contacted them to ask about the 6-8 week estimate), I was told the permit application had been kicked back by the fire department, so it would be a couple more weeks to get it approved. The permit was approved at the end of October (I only found this out when I received a payment request via email). I called to ask about the payment request, and was told at that time that installs were being scheduled 2-4 weeks out, so I would be contacted soon to schedule the install. In late November, and again in December, I reached out to NRG Clean Power to ask about my installation. After contacting NRC Clean Power executives (via LinkeIn), I was given an installation date of January 16th (a Monday). I received a call on Friday, January 13th, telling me the installation was cancelled and would have to be rescheduled. After receiving a new Project Manager, I was given an installation date on February 28th (today). I emailed my Project Manager on Thursday, February 23rd, just to check to see if everything was in order. His response was, "I have not received any update from the installer that there will be a delay, which means this is still scheduled for 02/28/23." Gee, you think maybe you could just check with the installer to confirm? Well, it's 10 AM, and I haven't seen or heard anything from NRG or the installer. In six weeks, it will be one year since we started this debacle. Time for more frustrating attempts at communication with this company. Save yourself the trouble, for anything solar-related, go with a different company.
We chose NRG for our solar installation. Everyone we worked with (especially Gemma and Leila) was incredibly helpful and responsive along every step of the process. They responded to emails and texts within a day or two at the most, but usually within a couple of hours. They were patient and very helpful with all of the questions we had (and we had many!), and they were happy to coordinate with other contractors that were doing work on our house at the same time. We did a fairly detailed analysis of the quality, cost, efficiencies, and expected lifetime of the equipment that NRG proposed compared to other companies, and we are confident that they provided the best equipment at the best cost. The installers that came to our house were very professional, worked quickly, and the system was up and running within hours - very impressive. We passed our inspection with no issues and the whole process was completely painless! We are very impressed with the services and products provided by NRG and would wholeheartedly recommend them to family and friends!
Hi [Member Name Removed], Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience—we love hearing stories like yours! We always strive to provide the best service to all our customers so it is great to hear when all that hard work pays off. I passed this message along to Gemma, Leila and the rest of the team. Thank you again for your review and for choosing NRG Clean Power! -Tyler
I evaluated 5 bids for my rooftop PV installation: 4 local firms and one regional firm (NRG). I was very glad to have chosen NRG. Their bid was the cheapest by a significant margin. The site survey, design and installation process was quick and smooth, despite the tribulations of the ongoing COVID-19 threat. Production from the system is exceeding specification, and my first monthly electric bill was -$15.
