Reviews
Write a ReviewNot a happy customer, very disappointed with the outcome. The mold remediation was contained to a 12 x 24 bedroom and was limited to surface mold (mostly furniture) caused by condensation and humidity. The carpeting was also removed & discarded. The total cost was very expensive ($4,250) for what ended up being 5 hours of work. This is over $800 an hour! Here are a few things we were not happy about; 1. There were plastic barriers taped to the walls during the process which caused the paint/plaster to be pulled off the wall in several areas. Now we have another expense to fix this problem. 2. We had told Kerry to leave us the dumpster for a few more days (since we had paid for it up to a week), but he went ahead and told the company to remove it the following day. 3. We found additional mold on the closet baseboard that had been missed and we needed to clean it ourselves. Needless to say, we do not recommend this company.
MIke, I'm sorry to hear you are dissatisfied with the remediation at your home. I did provide a written estimate and a detailed Remediation Plan for the project. I don't charge by the hour, but like most contractors, we charge by the job which you approved. The baseboard removal was not included in the Remediation Plan. However, everything else in the Plan was completed to your satisfaction prior to our departure. I apologize for the confusion regarding the dumpster. I do recall you requesting that it be left there until Monday and that early removal was my fault. Unfortunately, the humidity in the loft bedroom has been quite high for some time which most likely led to the paint no longer adhering to the wall properly. That is beyond my control. I was willing to meet with you the day after to address some of this with you but you decided to cancel that meeting. I wish you the best.
Kerry was GREAT! He came do to an inspection, spent a LONG time checking the nooks and crannies of our basement, and educated us about what to look for if there is mold. He found one old item (instrument case) that had mold on it which is what was causing the slight smell (and I'm sure it had the mold when we moved in a couple of years ago). He then told us we were actually okay - no remediation needed! I think we have all come to expect that if someone COULD get a job out of us - even if it was nott really needed (we're all such cynics now, right?) - they would. It was refreshing and nice to meet someone who tells you how he sees it. If we ever do have a problem, he is definitely our guy. Choose MicroGard - you won't regret it.
Thank you for the nice review. We will always offer an Honest assessment of our findings and we enjoy giving people Good News!
They were excellent!
Kerry did a very professional job on the mold in our house. He explained everything he did(testing) , what he was going to do! He also gave information about a professional to seal the crack in our foundation that was causing the mold! Dave F
They were prompt and thorough.
I t was great
We hired this company to take care of a very bad mouse infestation in the basement of an addition. There were shelves all over this basement, with junk and mouse droppings everywhere, and mouse urine in the insulation. I had been suffering from scary hives for some time, and black mold can give you hives. The owner came to give a free estimate, and wound up testing for various molds, which cost a little bit. These tests came back positive in both the basement of the addition, and the basement in the main house. The report and proposal that was submitted was one of the most thorough I have ever seen. In fact, it helped me get financial assistance in replacing the old insulation from the WCAC, a local government agency that does weatherization. I hired Microgard, and am very thankful that I did! Kerry and his crew completely removed all the material from the addition basement, scrubbed and cleaned, and killed bacteria. It took a 10 yard dumpster to hold everything. It was completely disgusting down there. They also dealt with a water situation in the basement of the main house, which had grown black mold. The tests came back positive for mold in both areas. This company is excellent. They were completely professional, and went far, far above and beyond the usual fair work expected for the price. They were not cheap, but when I spoke with a supervisor from the WCAC about insulation help, she said that the price was actually quite good for the work performed. The air quality in the office addition above that work improved almost immediately. I had feared the office would have to be moved, but they saved it for me. As well, my hives continue to improve on a daily basis. We had decided that they would come back to finish the mold work when the main basement was dry again. In the meantime, more mouse droppings were discovered in the upper level insulation. The insulation work was not in the original contract, but he dealt with it cheerfully, professionally, and thoroughly. I could not be more impressed with the quality of this companyâ s work; in fact I am planning on referring them to the WCAC for consideration as one of their contractors.
Very prompt, very knowledgeable.
Very responsive, professional. Explained everything they were doing. Followed up after testing and spent time answering all my questions. Highly recommend.
Honest, reliable, hard working people who care about the customer and the job that they do, they go above and beyond in finding the issues and creating a solution to the problem.
