Reviews
Write a ReviewHighly recommend BJ and his team! I submitted a repair request on Sunday, heard back the same day, had an assessment on Monday, and the repair was completed by Wednesday. What impressed me most was BJ's honesty. While other companies recommended replacing major components including the top window panel and motor at a cost of thousands, BJ took the time to explain the damage, repair the door, preserve the glass panel, and confirm the motor was still in excellent condition. By focusing on repair rather than replacement, he saved me a significant amount of money and extended the life of my garage door. Tommy was professional, courteous, and efficient throughout the repair process. BJ also runs his business the "old-fashioned way" with phone calls, straightforward communication, and a level of customer service that's becoming hard to find. He took the time to educate me on what happened, how it would be fixed, and what to watch for in the future.
I was given a verbal price. I requested a written invoice by phone and email. There was always an excuse why it was not available. The job was for replacing the garage door and repairing the trim around the opening. The trim was never done because Sunrise didn't have anyone employed to do that. We were not given a refund even though that was included in the original price.
Overall the quality of the garage door repair service was good. However, when they arrived they immediately started to work without giving me a quote. They were about halfway through the job when I got the price. The owner told me it was going to be pricey. He was right. In my estimation the parts were probably 10%-15% of the total cost of the job, but the labor cost was excessive. The owner provided no final invoice or paperwork that they did the work. In summary, it is clear this company knows how to fix garage doors, but as a consumer I recommend to beware to get a firm quote before they do any work.
BJ contacted me promptly to set up an appointment for him to come look at our garage door on a Saturday. Gave me several options to repair or replace and was honest about the pros and cons of both. Gave me the best price on a new garage door of the other companies that gave me quotes and installed it promptly. His crew cleaned up afterwards and left my garage cleaner then when they started the project plus the door is better then the old one and looks so much better.
Very nice and professional
The work was done well. When he arrived he brought two helpers. One installed the sensors and the other stayed and talked to me. It was a one-man job but there may have been another job they were going to after mine. I don't think I should pay for any more than one man's work. He stayed out on the street in his truck. The job took less than an hour. He charged $409 and I paid that day by check. I asked for an invoice because it seemed high. He said he did not do invoices and then he said his wife said did them because he did not do computers. He also said he did not charge for a service call. I waited for an invoice by email for almost a month and emailed him. He said his wife had sciatica and couldn't do it. He called and left a message that there was a discrepancy. I still have not received an invoice. I told him I had started looking for costs of sensors on Amazon and many cost around $30 and then I found on the Angi website that the expected price for this job is $160. I also said that I had scheduled through Angi because they were supposed to stand by their contractors. He sounded like he didn't care about Angi. He continued to say his wife could not use the computer. Eventually, he came to my house and gave me a handwritten invoice for $309 and gave me back $100. The invoice showed the date as July 9, when in fact he came on July 13. The invoice showed $309 which included a service call that he had said he wouldn't charge and $160 for 2 workers (less than 1 hour's work), including $37 for oil and lube which I did not witness but still only a one-man job. I don't believe I should pay an outrageous amount for two workers. I added up the charges for the lube, sensor, and connectors and included $55 for labor =$169. $309-169=$140. I also wanted to let Angi know about his very poor business practices. It's very bad that he had no sense of what a reasonable price for this kind of job was and especially that he did not provide an invoice at the time of service or send one by email that day. He sat in his car the whole time writing out something on a little white notepaper. The fact that he doesn't seem to keep track or provide invoices without a lot of prompting seems very unprofessional to me.
BJ and his crew were amazing. When my garage door stopped working a few days before Thanksgiving. BJ was the first one that reached out and seemed like the obvious choice. My garage door has never seemed to work right even when it was brand new. It always seemed clunky and noisy. I was always expecting it to come off the rails. He explained the modifications they could make to my existing equipment to make it work better and I could avoid the cost of a new garage door. After starting the work, they discovered several items that were installed incorrectly from the very beginning (even though the door was installed by a professional garage door company) and I'm lucky the door has lasted as long as it has. My garage door acts like a brand new door. I don't see daylight around the edges, it closes completely to the ground, and it is so quiet. I highly recommend Sunrise Garage Door Company for all your garage door needs. Excellent service!
They showed up on time. Assessed the problem and were efficient and professional
Very friendly and very professional.
I recieved several calls after reaching out to Angieâ s. One company wanted to charge me just to come out and give me a bid. Another gave me a quote on the phone for labor without even really knowing what was wrong. Sunrise came out the next day, which was a Saturday. They got the job done the same day and didnâ t even charge extra for coming out on the weekend.
