Every part of this job was quickly pursued in a timely manner. The assessment process of the job was transparent, fully described on paper with a full description of supplies needed and why. The cost estimated was in fact exactly what was charged with no hidden costs. The job was completed in one day with beautiful results. Gary was kind and articulate and we immediately hired him again for another job needed. Our bathroom is like new with a fully repaired and completed ceiling. We would recommend Gary for any dry wall or painting needed in a house. He is definitely a master craftsman. Deborah Carter

I had the person come out first an estimate, and decided it was reasonable. We arrange a time for him to repair the hole in the wall, and texture to match the rest of the wall, he did a excellent job, and would recommend their work to anyone, especially if you have old plaster work. He cleaned up, and was very professional.

Work was solid. Nice, knowledgeable, and personable guy. However, he does charge 5% interest if you pay past 5 days from project completion. Most companies do 30 but I guess read the fine print.

I'm so sorry to hear about this misunderstanding. All of our payment terms are at the bottom of the estimate/quote, so nothing is hidden or is a surprise to any client. We are a very small business, so we cannot wait 30, 60 or 90 days for payment. Some much larger companies can offer 30-, 60-or 90-day credit for their existing long-term customers. On a first time dealing with any client who isn't known or have never worked with, they require payment is due right after services are rendered. Once there is an ongoing regular set of transactions, credit can be offered, if the company chooses to do so. We did not have any credit terms set up with this project. We do run our business like any other business; something is purchased now; payment is due now. If for an extreme reason a client can't pay immediately, we give them 5 days to process payment. We charge a late fee if it's not processed. Once again, this is at the bottom of our terms and conditions at the first point of contact when the estimate is given. Nothing is a surprise.

We're committed to maintaining a network of trusted home service businesses, and those who don't meet our criteria will be rejected or promptly removed from our network.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
