Cal provided exceptional honest service. He took our basement from dark, unfinished, concrete, to functional, light, and inviting. Had to get around multiple challenges of Covid, holidays, weather, and a new baby - congratulations-, but persevered. We love our new basement. This was our first remodel job, so we were hesitant. Called Cal based on prior reviews and was very pleased! His quote is his quote. Honest and pleasant to deal with and was flexible with our scheduling. Kinda hate to let more people know.

We are extremely happy with his work. Cal provided valuable suggestions and was a great design partner. His finish carpentry work was especially beautiful. We also appreciated how respectful Cal and his subcontractors were of our space. Additionally, Cal made sure we never encountered any issues with inspections or permits. Cal also went above and beyond to get the job done right - even covering a refinish of our stairs - at no additional cost to us - when the initial finish did not come out well. We would happily recommend him to any of our friends or family.

Cal turned our gross dungeon of a basement into a bright, spacious, usable area with separate rooms, storage closets, and a full bathroom. He did beautiful work and his subcontractors were all lovely and reliable. His price was very reasonable (I got 6 quotes and his was right in the middle), he stuck to his initial timeline, and was an absolute delight to work with.

Cal and his team were detail-oriented, flexible/adaptive, and their work is high quality. Special shout out to his HVAC, carpentry & framing, drywall & plastering, tiling, plumbing, and painting crews that were brought in on our project! Finishing the project in fall of 2020, they created a very special space for us to enjoy, adding approx 600 sq feet of finished space including a new bathroom and creating a nice utility room with additional storage (~200 sq ft). In particular, we noticed the HVAC work had really helped to rebalance air handling in our home, noticing our furnace not working as hard through the past winter. Cal is very communicative and transparent, always thinking about cost-effective solutions, works hard with the Town for permits etc, and is more than happy to work with the homeowner. If you have a basement finishing/remodel project, Cal and his Team can't be beat!

Cal's team finished my approximately 2,400 sq ft basement (bath, bedroom, kitchenet, playroom, theater, gym and game room) . I received 4 bids and Cal's was not only the lowest price but, more importantly, he was upfront and honest. He worked closely with me to get a detailed understanding of the job. He was also very practical and didn't look to rack up contractor fees. His team was professional and worked very quickly. He also helped coordinate with HVAC and glass contractors that I contracted myself. Cal has a deep understanding of the best materials for basements and I'm very pleased with the flooring, bathroom fixtures, countertops, etc. He also came back and addressed a few minor repairs after completing the job. Overall, I wouldn't work with anyone else and I would not hesitate to have Cal come back and do work on my house.

Cal and his team were great. We had 900 sq. ft. of our basement finished in 2020. What impressed us the most was his approach to the job along with valuable suggestions, his knowledge of the work to be done .and the skillfulness of his team. He adhered to his original quote, there were no extra charges for changes within the quote and the job was completed timely. I would use him again and recommend him without reservation.

I received a couple quotes for a full basement renovation (billiards area, dart alley, TV room, custom bar, bathroom, storage room, etc.) and Cal was the only contractor that took the time to not only listen to my suggestions but also offer some additional ones that would improve the layout and functionality of the room. He actually provided me with drawings of his vision(s) for the space, so I could conceptualize what he was saying. The quote received was comparable to the others I received, but the big difference was it was not prices and not an estimate to do the job. Cal told me that unless I made a significant change to the scope of the work (i.e. added additional walls, bigger bar space, upgraded floors, etc.) that the price would not change $0.01! I can attest to the fact Cal is a man of his word as the contract price did not change throughout the job. In reality, he actually did some additional work in the space that he felt was needed to result in a better end product (all was outside the scope of the contract) and he did not charge at all, despite me offering to pay for it. Cal and his crew were always on time and professional. They all take great pride in their work and are respectful of your home. They would always be willing to explain what was going on and answer any and all questions I may have. Cal would reach out almost nightly to let me know how the project was going and when the next phase (framing, electrical, plumbing, flooring, painting, etc) would be starting. He really runs a smooth and efficient project, I could not have asked for more! Honestly, I will be using Cal for all future projects (big and small) and I cannot recommend him enough. He has a lifetime customer in me!

Do yourself a favor if you're reading this review trying to evaluate whether to hire Cal: just do it already. There's a reason everyone on here has given him and his team (CJ & Matt) 5 stars. They are professional, reliable, honest, easy to communicate with and they do great work. From the initial scoping meeting, Cal listened to what we wanted in our finished basement, made suggestions based on his experience and implemented all of it into his final plan. The end result is a beautifully remodeled basement and wet-bar that we're going to enjoy for many years to come. Cal finished the project within the allotted time-frame he predicted, and within the initial budget he proposed. He gave us weekly updates on the project's sequencing so we were never left to wonder what was next. It is a no-brainer giving him 5 stars. I'd highly recommend Cal and will definitely hire him for any future construction/remodeling projects we may have.
