We are a locally-owned and operated, full-service ductless mini-split heat pump company. Our goal is to provide Mainers with affordable heating and cooling solutions. Contact us and we'll do a complimentary, no-obligation evaluation of your space. If a heat pump is right for you, we will be there through every step: system design, installation, rebates, and service - with a long-term commitment to you as our customer. Unlike some companies that are only interested in the sale and nothing more, at MAC Heat Pumps we're here for the life of your heat pump.

How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I wanted to do my part in reducing CO2 emissions here in Maine. After doing extensive research, I found that heat pumps are the most cost-effective way for Maine homeowners to do just that. And, since they pay themselves off quickly and work for most applications, this solution can be implemented today on a mass scale..

Went to get a quote from them after having them do two previous projects. This project to be quoted was for a whole church system. They never showed up and eventually canceled the appointment 5hrs after they were due to arrive. When we tried to call them multiple times to find out where they were, they never answered the phone.

The technician was timely and efficient as far as I know. The experience was a positive one. It’s also a testament to the product as well as MAC Heat Pump’s maintenance of it that it’s performing well after 10 years or more. I do know that we were one of MAC’s very earliest customers.

The technician was knowledgeable, polite, meticulous and courteous. He performed the regular maintenance on my three heat pumps. We have been Mac Heat Pumps’ customer for years, perhaps a decade and strongly recommend them to anyone who is interested in installing heat pumps. Great People.

Install or Replace a Heat Pump

The crew sent was on time, professional, friendly, efficient, clean and organized. The electrician was the first to arrive and installed the new breakers to the panel and installed the wire for the condenser unit and the wall mounted blowers. The crew installed two power head blowers, one for a large sunroom and another for the living room. The heat pumps are nearly silent yet powerful enough to do the entire first floor of our 3000 sq foot home. The entire install was done in one day and we were thrilled with the result. The estimator who came out took pictures and helped decide what the best options were according to our wishes and needs. This is what this company specializes in and they have it down to a science.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
