Reviews
Write a ReviewVery happy with our complete roof replacement. Everyone seemed knowledgeable from our sales pitch (shout out to Travis, who was awesome) to the installation. They found 2 areas of wetness and replaced the wood. They worked through some tough spots to put shingles down. The guys who replaced the roof worked a lot of hours on a complex roof. Great job!!
Very prompt and excellent quality
Their price was not the lowest but they’re doing more than the others said they would do
Long roofing did an excellent job. The team was very professional and knowledgeable. They completed our roof replacement on time and it looks great. I would recommend them to anyone who asked.
My experience with Long Roofing was an easy transaction no problems at all!! Sales rep and Manager Paul were very accommodating. Thanks!!!!
Highly Recomend
Nothing
First off, the good things: The new roof looks OK from the outside (not outstanding, but OK). They also installed matching shingles on our small shed and on an awning over our kitchen door. The new roof has a 50 year warranty. The problems? Pretty much everything else. It started with a two and a half hour high pressure sales pitch instead of the estimate we asked for. The sales guy started with an insanely high price for shock value, then gave us a song-and-dance about how we qualify as "preferred customers" which brought the price down by about ten grand into the realm of just super expensive. And then he insisted that we had to sign a contract right that minute or we'd miss out on that lower price (which we found out later was several thousand dollars over what most competitors would charge). That should have been enough of a red flag to make us bail on Long, but we wanted to get the roof replacement done so we signed. Part of the estimate included several hundred dollars to replace any wooden parts of the roof that were water damaged. Almost all of our existing wooden panels had black spots where condensation had formed around the roofing nails, and other parts had larger dark spots, so technically most if not all of the wood should have been replaced. After they finished the work, we went up in the attic and checked and as far as we can tell they didn't replace any wood. The initial estimate also included adding "smart vents" along the lower edges of the roof, which the sales guy insisted we needed. Turns out we didn't because we already have vented soffits (somehow the sales guy missed that). We called Long several days before the roofers arrived and told them to cancel the smart vents. When the workers showed up, they were about to install the smart vents anyway, and we had to make an emergency call to get that stopped. And then the smart vents showed up on our bill anyway and we had to make multiple calls to get them removed. The clean-up afterwards left a lot to be desired - we found at least a dozen nails lying in our yard, plus small bits of broken-up shingle all over the place. The roofers didn't even attempt to clean up the mess they made in the attic - I had to drag a shop vac up there and spend over an hour cleaning up all the wood splinters, nails, shingle grit and other debris left behind. The day before the install they parked a dumpster in front of our house, blocking the mailbox. A week after the job was done, the dumpster was still sitting there. We had to make multiple calls to Long and to the sub-contractor who provided the dumpster to finally get the thing hauled away, and in the meantime we had to drive to the post office to pick up our mail. The worst part came about a week later when we discovered that the roofers had removed the exhaust pipe for our water heater and covered over the hole. They assumed the pipe was from an old furnace but never checked to see if it was connected to anything. We hired an HVAC guy from another company to come look at it, and he said that for several reasons it would be easier to just get a new side-vent water heater than it would be to try to put the pipe back. So now we have to spend several thousand additional dollars on top of this already overpriced roof. Avoid Long Home Services. We will never do business with them again.
It has been a terrible experience, the reason to hire them is that they said they would be able to complete the job including the plumbing, we have all the plumbing parts, they took pictures, and checked with the plumbing department, they are quality parts so after looking at them they said they could and then said they could not, the job was supposed to be done within one day. It should have to be completed on April 14th
MY ROOF IS GREAT. STAFF WAS VERY NICE AND PROFESSIONAL. EVERYTHING CLEANED UP AT END OF JOB. GREAT!
