Reviews
Write a ReviewRoger was excellent to work with. He shows both design and technical aptitude. He was responsive and timely in his deliverables and able to understand our vision with few iterations.
I was searching for an architect on Angie’s list we’re building a new house in Newington, Ct Roger Greenwald popped up in my search. Roger called me the next day and we booked an appointment for him to come out to the property. He asked us what we wanted and designed the house for exactly what we needed. My mother is an elderly woman, Roger very patient and answered all my mother‘s questions. He wanted to design the house to what stage we were in our life and what would work for us. Roger is extremely knowledgeable in what he does, he returned every phone call every email immediately or within 24 hours. The house he designed was just absolutely beautiful it was everything we wanted. The blueprints were ready within two weeks if not sooner. Roger Greenwald Architect is FIVE STAR I highly recommend him. Once my house is fully built I will come back and upload photos
It was a real pleasure working with you and John and your mom! I'm looking forward to seeing the house come together! Call if you need anything. Roger
Roger plan my single house new construction he completed my project on time roger is very easy to deal with i highly recommend him
Thanks, Mohamed, I enjoyed designing your house with you! Call me if you need anything. Regards, Roger
Regretful experience. Roger was in over his head I believe in our small commercial job. Kept trying to be the "Quarterback" as he called it - to be involved with everyone and everything...my thoughts are it was for padding the bill...I could not reconcile his billings with our progress and he charged us a full hour of his time to review a short email - and then did not include the email info in his drawings. When I asked about it he couldn't recall the email at all and said he didn't receive it. He billed us $11000 against a $15k job and yet nothing was done but measurements of the building. Nothing to bring to town hall or work with our mechanical engineer. I found him argumentative, very forgetful and insistent on his ideas - but he knew nothing about our industry. He ignored specific requests in favor of what he wanted to do. He even wanted to charge for his time taken to send us a bill! That is not allowed in CT. Would not recommend.
Compare the 17 5-Star Reviews we've received on Google to this 1-star review. This client angrily resists the professional codes which govern an architect's practice. We wish her luck with her laundromat project, but fear that she will have similar problems with her next architect. We stand by our advice and our billings. We are suing her for non-payment of her bill. Roger Greenwald, AIA
Went above and beyond to get my project done. Honest and Experience.
Roger was a pleasure to work with. His quickly put together a plan that exceeded our initial expectations.
Roger is a gentleman and a professional of the highest caliber. My wife and I are building a home in North Stonington, CT and hired a virtual architect 2 years ago to design our home. After $5,000, and 3 months, we were left with what felt like an intern-level deliverable. We swore that the next time we used professional services, we would find someone who had experience in the industry, knowledge of the area, and the passion for building a young families dream home, not just processing work. We found all of those things in Roger and could not be happier with his work or his kindness as a person. I am now in the budgeting phase and am sending out Rogers drawings for contractors to quote, and the first thing every one of them says is I have not heard of this Greenwald guy but he does damn good work. It inspires my wife and I to know that we were in such capable hands.
Roger was wonderful to work with! We are so happy with this renovation. Roger's skill, experience and creativity made a complex project like ours seem effortless. We highly recommend Roger. Lylah K.
great working relationship great quality of work
I am very sorry I went with this Architect. After spending over $4000 in fees, I had to let Roger go. The first set of plans he submitted to me were nothing like the sketches I submitted. It didn't address any of my key wants, like what wall will have windows, where the kitchen should be, where the entry should be, and so on. In our initial meeting, I showed Roger my town's regulations on accessory apartments (For me, it was an in-law apartment) that limited them to 850 square feet. His first set of plans was well over that limit. On top of that, he handed me a bill for over $2700, which was on top of the $1300 retainer fee, for a total of 24 hours of billing. Seeing the look on my face and my total disbelief and dissatisfaction, Roger redid the plans to bring them closer to my wants. Roger said he would redo them for free. Really? Don't you think he should have? Anyway, The second set of plans was more to my liking, and Roger stated he had to spend 13 hours redoing them and he wouldn't charge me. Can you believe that? I asked about the other 11 hours I was charged for plans that didn't adhere to town regulations, didn't address what I wanted, and were not to my liking. No answer that made any sense. So, after months of back and forth and $4000 later, I had to let Roger go. I found Roger to be un-collaborative, dismissive, and demeaning. I hope my next Architect offers a better experienceâ just my opinion of our short relationship.
Tomt didn't understand or accept that the plan he gave me to stamp with my architect seal simply did not work structurally: the beam he wanted to save was supported by posts which obstructed the key circulation points of the living area. The posts had to go. This news upset him terribly. I designed a solution which worked well. He didn't like my solution. Fair enough. I redesigned it for free. He remained irate. He demanded steep discounts in my fee. He told me that he would "assassinate me on social media" if I refused to cut the fee. Tom's background was as owner of a handyman service. I wish him well.
