Write a ReviewIt started by emailing them jobs that needed to be done. 1 was to take out an old wood fence and had the quote putting in a new vinyl fence. I looked up options and sent James the fence info. He quoted were 18k plus installation of 5k which was too expensive. I looked for other options and found a pretty fence at Menards. I emailed James the fence and instructions he said that would be a good choice. I had menards quote all the materials required to install the project. They came over to give us a quote and time frame of 5k and 4 to 5 days to complete the job. My husband placed the order on 10/21 we had it delivered into a trailer and 2 pallets 1 with 16 bags of gravel and 1 with 63 bags of cement. They had quoted $500 to tear down the our old fence but then said 5 days before the job they wouldn't do it so I had to at 59 years old women and needing a new knee took it down. They came to start the job it was raining a little bit in the morning so the didn't come, the next day they started preparing the site and said they would stack the fence sections for me but they never did. We had another company clear out old trees and bushes but a few small tree stumps remained they had to borrow my chainsaw and other tools. They were to bring a power auger but only brought clamshells. The first day they were supposed to set the gate fence posts which we found out later which it was supposed to be a 8 foot opening, we measured while they were there and the opening was only 94 1/2 inches. When we asked why they said menards sent the wrong gates. But those gates measured 42 inches each. So that didnt make any sense. The opening was not big enough for 2 4 ft gates and the posts were uneven by 3 inches and 1 post was already falling over. . Menards did send the wrong gates, which they corrected later that month. They left and said they would be back. The next day they started my husband had a doctor's appointment because he was recovering from a brain hemorrhage. I stayed as they continued to work the fence went up quickly. I figured they were coming back to finish because it started to get dark and they said we are all done and wanted the balance of their money. The fence in 6 hours. I walked along the fence and it was already falling over and I pushed on it and I swayed back and forth. I started looking at the supplies that were left over and asked why didn't you use the cement and gravel menards sent for the job. He said they sent too much and he didn't need it. 66 bags of cement and 18 bags of gravel for 18 posts. They used 12 bags of cement and 6 bags of gravel. We told him it needs to be fixed its already falling over and not secured. We asked them what are you going to do to fix this mess. Now its spring and they have not come back to fix the fence that is now falling over and coming out of the ground. It looks horrible and we have had people trespassing with no gates and we are on Lake front We had 2 other companies quote the repairs and they both said it has to come out. 1 said you won't be able to save the fence and quoted 5k to take out 12k to put a new one up All new posts will be needed. So i was talking to my neighbor who does business with Angies list that I should contact them for help. My husband is so upset that this company screwed up over 6000 in fencing and supplies and never called to fix this problem. So now we have to do this on our own. We need 16 posts plus new cement that went bad over the winter. Menards just got this fence back in stock so we can order them. I never left a review of E and J Services messed up job because I thought they were coming back in the spring James mentioned they were godly people and wanted to make it right. Now its April 2026 and we haven't heard from them. This is my husband's recount of what happened. My husband talked to E and J services after he rejected thier rushed final, when the gate would not fit. These kids didn't follow proper procedures for any fence installation. Worse they didn't follow the specific instructions of this special fence system even though they had been given the instructions twice. Totally unacceptable workmanship they cut ever corner. My new fence has to be removed and reinstalled with replacement posts with new holes and cement to secure fence. Also to make the correction to the gate opening. These men used less than one third of the cement and gravel required which is still sitting in my driveway on pallets. The install is so bad to fix two other companies are charging 12 to 14 k to fix. I am so disgusted They told me I ordered too much material and not following the basic requirements for this fence system. To ask what I want as a remedy to this horrible job. I was putting everything together to take them to small claims court so I can recoup the costs of 6119.59 in ruined fencing and material that sat all winter. Plus 5k to take the fence out. Then order new posts and supplies at 4500 and 10k plus to have a company install it correctly. Plus attorney and court fees. All of these costs are close to actual.
Extremely happy with the quality of work. Very professional with great communication. I will definitely use them again on future projects.
Hired James and crew to install mulch throughout my landscaping. The result was excellent! Neat and clean work.
They were fast, friendly, and they did excellent work. Couldn't have asked for more.
I could not be more happy with the results.
