Testing, good. Clean up, not so good

He did a fantastic job on the wood stoop. It was beautiful in construction. However, when he installed it, he used a Bobcat, which tore up all the pavers along the walk to the stoop. After further inspection, I realized that he failed to add the correct amount of steps. You needed to jump up 14 inches to the first step, while all the other steps were spaced 7 inches apart. When I talked to him about my concerns, he told me that I am liable for damages on my property when I hire someone. He told me that he would bring me some dirt and I could cover the broken pavers and build up an extra stair to match the missing one. I said no thanks.

I accepted a bid from a different contractor which was 400 dollars cheaper. On a positive note, this company did get the bid to me quickly, even though I did not hire them.
