Artistic Edge Hardscapes

Initially, the project was removal of an old rotting wood timber retaining wall in the back yard and replacement with an engineered concrete block wall. This entailed removal of 12+ existing trees, saving/building around "keeper"trees plus clearing and regrading back lot. I was so impressed with the quality of work and professionalism of Joe and his team that I decided to have them also do the same basic job on the front yard wall. The front was more complicated due to more extreme slope "three terraces" the need to work around a 80 year old Oak tree and the curved design of the wall. I am extremely pleased with the results Joe and his team delivered. They are very creative, hard working craftsmen who take great pride in their work. The name of the company begins with "Artistic" which is very appropriate because they are truly "Artists"

Joe and his team did a good job rerouting our drainage and pouring a large concrete patio. They left the area neat and clean. Project completed on time and on budget.

Before I met Joe Deren I had hired a different hardscape contractor to cut a driveway into my hillside. The results were disastrous and I was embarrassed to have neighbors see the mess. I was so lucky to find Joe and his team. They fixed everything that had been done wrong. The retaining wall and landscaping they put in are beautiful. I was very impressed when Joe came to the worksite every day to make sure everything had been done right and that I was happy. We hired Joe to build a stone retaining wall. He and his crew exceeded our expectations. He always got back to us when we had questions, Joe and his crew were hard workers, showed up when expected, cleaned up everyday and very polite. I would hire Artistic Edge Hardscapes again.

Our project started as a retaining wall to mitigate some erosion issues we were having. Joe's vision of turning our steeply sloped backyard into a hardscape flagstone patio was unbelievable. We are so happy with the work and final result, The erosion problems were resolved AND we have a beautifully constructed patio and stone stairway they we never would have thought possible. We'll be using him again on future projects!

The owner Joe Deren is why I went with Artistic Edge Hardscapes. He was very knowledgeable in explaining the installation of the 80 # block and caps for the retaining walls and for figuring out the framing of the poured handicapped accessible sidewalk.He designed the sidewalk to drain rainwater away from the house and designed and fixed existing drainage problems I had. He even adjusted their schedule to work on Saturday to be ready for the concrete delivery on early Monday morning because of working around all of the rain we ve been having. All of his crew were very courteous to my wife and daughters and answered any questions we had. We did this project for the handicapped sidewalk so my son in law can drive his electric wheelchair into the basement. And like I told Joe and his crew you always want a project to help the value of your home and we feel like it does. My wife and I are very happy with every phase of their work and will use them again for future work we need done.

Our project began as a desire to do some landscaping in our backyard. When Joe arrived, he spent time not only evaluating the yard, but also the home structure. This is where is experience as an inspector really paid off. He identified a major structural issue that our inspector missed. It was a bit of a time bomb. Joe creatively combined fixing the structural concerns with an overhaul of our backyard. We ended up building a large retaining wall to shore up the structure and using this as the basis for an amazing patio. Joe was able to create a vision for our property, execute on it and add in quite a few detailed touches that help make our yard even more attractive. He spent as much time with us as we needed, sent regular photos and updates and was always concerned with our satisfaction. His crew is also top-notch. While retaining walls are his specialty (and he does a great job with this), Joe and Artistic Hardscapes are a team that I would recommend you consider for any significant property work.

Joe responded quickly and provided a fair price for what turned out to be an amazing concrete block replacement to our failing 28 year old railroad tie retaining wall. Beyond expanding our parking from 3 to 6 vehicles he also managed to correct a drainage problem and create a finished aesthetic more fitting to the property and surrounding landscape.
