Architecture is the rigorous study and composition of materials and forms for living environments.

Arcelab Inc. Architects is guided by Bill Gregory, AIA with 50 years of education and experience in architecture. We focus on residential design and work in contemporary and some traditional (Spanish, Craftsman, Cape Cod) styles. We start with the client's program/budget goals combined with the opportunities/constraints of the site and develop a building design that brings them together in a cohesive solution. Bill will focus Arcelab's team on achieving your goals. We will be creating an environment that will be the center and starting point of everyday of your life and which will be the background of the many family events and memories still to come. While all examples of architecture are buildings, not all buildings are examples of architecture. The difference between a building and architecture is the informed care that went into the design of the building - including proportions, sequence of space, volume and light, relationship to site, material selection, and the details.

How We Got Started

I chose to work in this industry because I learned early on that I loved to draw buildings and make models. This led me to study architecture and eventually become an architect. My father and grandfather built the house I grew up in, so it is part of my DNA.

Hire an Architect to Design a Project

When we first discussed doing a remodel on our Manhattan. Beach house our plan was to do some updating of the kitchen, bathrooms etc. Bill presented us with some great ideas (including a master suite addition over the garage) which will greatly enhance the value of the work we are doing and make the house much more comfortable. He is great to work with and is very accessible. Look forward to another project with Arcelab Architects.

Bill Gregory has been a pleasure to work with and his work is outstanding. His rates are very fair. He is fast, very experienced in dealing with inspectors and zone boards. Bill quickly produced research on my property that contractors and lawyers had not been able to locate. Bill did much more than I had expected in providing research and pricing on materials as well. I cannot recommend Bill Gregory and Arcelab highly enough.

Criminal Background Check

Who does HomeAdvisor background check?

The owner or principal of each business in HomeAdvisor's network (with the exception of Corporate Accounts) must pass a background check. Unfortunately, we cannot perform a background check on every employee of a business—the background checks are performed only on the owner or principal. As always, we recommend that you conduct your own research on the businesses you hire, including making inquiries directly with the businesses regarding their employee background check policies.

What does the background check cover?

We use a third-party vendor to conduct a criminal records search in the county in which the business owner or principal works. Our third-party vendor uses a national criminal database ("NCD") to screen service professionals. Business owners or principals with felony arrests that carry a pending decision or who are convicted of felonies in the past 7 years ago will not be admitted to the network. Businesses or owners convicted misdemeanors or felonies, or who have dismissed charges or arrests on their records involving rape/incest, sex offenses, or lewd and lascivious behavior at any point in time will not be admitted to our network.

Our background check does not exclude service professionals unless the crime at issue is a felony.

*The comprehensiveness of the NCD varies by state. Please be aware that the reporting in the NCD is particularly limited in the following states: AL, CO, DE, GA, ID, IL, KS, LA, ME, MA, MI, MS, MT, NE, NV, NH, NM, SD, UT, VA, VT, and WY. After initial admission to the HomeAdvisor network, businesses are re-screened if a concern is reported to HomeAdvisor.

Corporate Accounts

Some businesses are employees, franchisees, dealers or independent contractors ("Corporate SP's") of larger national or "Corporate Accounts". When this is the case, we may match you with the Corporate Account or with one of their Corporate businesses. The above screening process does not apply to Corporate Accounts, as HomeAdvisor does not screen Corporate Accounts or Corporate businesses.

Verify Trade License HomeAdvisor checks to see if the business carries the appropriate state-level license. Verify Insurance As a part of our screening process, we encourage professionals to carry general liability insurance. We require coverage for hundreds of services. Verification of State Business Filings For business types that require a Secretary of State filing, we confirm that the business is in good standing in the state in which it is located. Criminal Records Search HomeAdvisor uses 3rd party data sources to conduct a criminal search for any relevant criminal activity associated with the owner/principal of the business. Sex Offender Search We confirm that the owner/principal is not listed on the official state Sex Offender web site in the state in which the owner/principal of the company is located. Bankruptcy Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the history of the principal/owner of the business for bankruptcy filings by or against them. Legal Search for Civil Judgments We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for state level civil legal judgments entered against them. Liens Search We use 3rd party data sources to check the principal/owner of the business for liens placed against them. Identity Verification (SSN) HomeAdvisor verifies the social security number(s) of the owner/principal for identity check purposes. This check applies primarily to smaller business entities. Identity Verification (Reverse Phone Lookup) We conduct a reverse business phone lookup to identify records matching the phone number information provided by the business.
