"Magic Designs was fantastic. They took our ideas and the needs of our family and made them a reality. The craftsmanship is beautiful. The team was accountable, courteous, and professional. We could not be happier with our new basement. Not only has it added value to our home, the space created for our family is priceless. They were family friendly and included our 9 year old son's ideas and were patient when he wanted to "supervise". We are very satisfied customers. If we ever had remodeling or other project needs, Magic Designs would be our first choice."

"I appreciate that Steve told me that he would be running a little bit late. That was very helpful so I could plan my day. I have had other repairman where they did not keep me informed of a delay and that was frustrating. He also completed the job at a timely efficient manner."

"Fantastic work! I can't say enough good things about it from top to bottom. Tim repaired and retiled our master bathroom shower. Extremely efficient and knowledgeable. He made the tile we chose look even better than the displays in the store. And the work he did is of truly superior quality. Easily the most hard working contractor we've ever hired. And easily the best contractor we've ever hired with an amazing work ethic (and I had completely given up trusting contractors, but Tim changed my mind!) Tim is going to be the first person we call for all our other home improvement projects in the future."

Additions and Remodels
"We contracted Tim to build an 2 bedroom addition onto our 2 BR ranch home. We had him take care of everything except the painting and carpeting. This also included a new unfinished (but insulated) basement, and creating a new hallway through an existing room. An initial visit was done in October 2016, plans drawn up shortly after. A proposal was written up within a few weeks and agreed to. Excavation did not start until March 2017 (which is a perfectly acceptable weather delay due to Winter), and everything was more or less smooth sailing from there on out. Tim's part of the work was complete by May 21, so it was roughly about 2.5 months for the whole addition - which was comfortably ahead of schedule. He installed a ceiling fan and did some other minor electrical work for us. He was also able to install the hardie plank siding that we wanted around the front of the house for us as well. Tim was very professional and knew his way around the building code like no other. His subcontractors were courteous and professional as well. Everything ran like a well oiled machine. Tim was always available to answer any questions we had and kept us up to date on any developments throughout the entire project. We have made some photos of the progress available in a public facing photo album here - https://photos.app.goo.gl/goHF7STW8OCtVuS82 We highly recommend Tim and his company for any project that you are trying to complete!"

"The project was completed on schedule at the quoted price. The workers were courteous and paid great attention to detail. They respected my property and took extraordinary care in leaving the premises clean each day. I subsequently had them replace all of my windows. When I incurred water damage to the kitchen and several other rooms a year later, I immediately contacted Alan to have him make the extensive repairs. Again I was very pleased with their work and their helpfulness in dealing with two separate insurance agencies. Highly recommended !"

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
