        Comment: I want to find out all I can about how my daughter and son-in-law can build an accessory dwelling unit on their 1.4 acres on Kennesaw Avenue. I need to know how to go about this step by step. IIn November my husband and I were asked to leave our home at 156 Parkview Drive, SE, Marietta, GA 30060 where we lived for 18 years . I had paid rent faithfully month by month on time with my Social Security. My daughter has spent countless hours researching where she and her husband could buy a small home for us, thus making them our new landlords, but everything she has found is either too far away or too expensive. Therefore, we have begun to explore the possibility of building a ADU on their 1.4 acres on Kennesaw Avenue. Due to the fact that my daughter is doing so much work on this problem, I think I should do as much as I can to help her find the right architect, civil engineer, surveyor and all the necessary parts and pieces of this. My friend Allen Rodi, a real estate agent with Keller Williams and friend, spoke with me at length about this possibility. I am 80 years old and my husband is 74. We would both benefit from living nearby for health reasons naturally. My husband has a great deal of experience with construction, having worked just the past summer with Al Shoustarian on "flipping" two houses on Bell Street, Marietta. He would also be helpful to my daughter's family in repair, painting, carpentry, lawn care and concrete. So, we currently are blessed to live in a condo owned by my daughter, but it is only temporary. The 156 Parkview Drive residence was 950 sq. ft. and it was more than adequate. Allen Rodi said we could build an 800 sq. ft. ADU for about $130,000 which is the current budgeted amount. I, therefore, am very enthused about this idea and would appreciate any and all help you can give in getting this little home for us off the ground.
