"Where do I begin? Working with Dan, the owner, from start to finish I am just amazed! He is very personable, great communication, works in timely manner, reasonable price, and is a perfectionist in his trade! He removed an unsafe open metal spiral staircase to loft in my condo and hand built a beautiful traditional wood staircase. When he says when he can start your job and how long the renovation will take he is spot on. Highly recommend!!! Again, thank you Dan, you rock!!!!"

"George was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was professional and not at all pushy. He did what he said he was going to do, he was on time and finished within the quoted timeframe. I was able to go to work while he worked on my bathroom and there was no mess when I came home. All in all a great experience. Thank you!"

"A big thanks to Pete, Chad and the rest of the crew for our bathroom remodel. It was a big project in a small space so working conditions were less than ideal. Every project comes with an unexpected curve ball or two, and these guys handled them very well. We talked through options and were able to agree on solutions quickly when things came up. At the end of the day, we are very happy with the work and customer service throughout the process and would definitely call them again if/when another project comes up. Thanks again!"

Depending on the type of project, you may find subtle differences in the hiring process. Here’s a look at task-specific advice.
You can use HomeAdvisor to help evaluate a contractor’s qualifications. We put pros through a screening process, and award badges to high-performing contractors. You can find these badges on a pro’s HomeAdvisor profile, and sometimes, his or her website.
Your research doesn’t stop here. Once you’ve found a few prospective companies, make an call to ask a few questions about work history, licensure and more:
In most cases, the responses you get to these three questions will give you a very good idea of the right pro for your project. If you have more than one front-runner, these additional questions can help you narrow it down.
Any good contractor will answer these questions, and most will appreciate dealing with a client that takes such an active interest in finding good service. On the other hand, if a contractor gives you a hard time with these questions, you probably want to find someone else.
